1680x1050 is great with windows 7, you can just drag a window to the left/right hand side of the screen and have it take up exactly half. If you're wanting to multitask, you'll need at least a 22" imo.

It's exactly the same as 16:10 widescreen with inferior vertical space (talking about 1920x1080 vs. 1920x1200). Anything else and 16:10 wins hands down.
