I am having issues with a crash. It happens when I try to load a map. The error is "failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer"

what do I do.

What I assumed caused it: I was fucking around with some of those super settings for graphics because I got a new computer and am enjoying it. I tried taking all the commands out of my autoexec.cfg but it still crashes when I try to load a map.

I also thought maybe it was a water enhancement I downloaded, but I deleted that and tried it, but no dice.

What else could be causing this, because besides those, all I have done were hd skins.

That's a DirectX 8 error. Maybe the runtime (DLL) files are corrupted?

Try launching with the -autoconfig parameter. This will ignore all configuration files and default to the settings best suited to your hardware. It's a temporary fix, but will tell you if it's a software/hardware issue or just a configuration issue.

Well it stopped happening as frequently now and its only usually inbetween map changes or when I press Quit so its not so much of a bother now, but I did that jelly, and nothing happened.

It just...stopped...for the most part.

And crash, any way to fix that?
