Hi, my processor doesn't meet the minimum requirements for StarCraft2 found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=26242&locale=en_US.

These are my specs: http://i334.photobucket.com/albums/m421/_Ro0ster_/Capture-45.png

Do you think I could still run the game even if I had to run it on lower settings? I was a fan of the first game and I want to know if I should buy the second game.

Your specs are actually above the minimun requirements.

You'll be fine.

correction: minus the clockspeed, but I ran it at 2.5GHZ and I'm running a Celeron Dual Core.

Sweet, I think i'll be buying starcraft 2 then!

The game has surprisingly low requirements. I think blizzard wants as many people as possible to play this game. I tried this game out on my older P4 HT 3.0Ghz computer + 3GB RAM + X1600PRO and it ran well on medium-high settings. Hell, I can run the game on my iMac as well.

I've got 2.1 GHZ myself. Less ram, 3 gb, 32 bit Vista. It's an HP TX2000 Laptop. I haven't tried serious gameplay with it yet, but it ran the UI tutorial and main menu at at least 30 frames. All settings defaulted to low, of course.

I wouldn't equate your CPU clock speed to graphic ability. I'd equate it to how many units you can get on map and still stay about 30fps. When you hit 300 units on your map, you'll see a significant drop in performance.

So beware the money map. :p

Actually recently I found a website that determines whether your computer can run a certain program. (found in this URL:http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/). When I run the test it fails on the graphics card portion not CPU speed.

Minimum: 128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better
You Have: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

I haven't bought the game yet as I've been lazy and on vacation.

You should try it on low settings. IGPs are bad, but you may be able to play it with the low requirements for this game.

I got SC2 running on my Atom netbook (without nvidia ION), but it's a little choppy =[

A more powerful laptop like yours should be able to cope with it (albeit keep the settings down).

Of course, the higher the resolution, the worse the performance will be. What's the native res of your laptop?

If that question was aimed at me, the netbook resolution is 1024x600, but no resolution comes up in the in-game graphical settings (it's just blank).

My question was directed towards Rooster, but I'm not surprised it shows blank for you. You're using a netbook (I assume due to the resolution) which usually takes some work to get running for games. I got Halo to play, but the performance sucks for that. How do you expect run SC2 on a netbook? I assume this netbook has no more than 1GB RAM, an Atom processor, and a standard IGP.

Still, I see the point you were making. You said a little choppy so it runs at what FPS?

Yeah, it is 1GB RAM - I was going to upgrade it to two, but it would break the seal iirc, and it's a little harder on this 1008HA.

Haven't actually measured it, but a rough guess would be 10FPS.

Would I be able to run it with a Pentium D CPU?

Yes you would.

What's native res?

On LCD screens, there is a certain resolution the display looks best with. That would just be your desktop resolution...assuming you have it set correctly, which I'm quite sure you do.

Its set at 1600x900; which is the highest and recommended setting.

Yes that would be it. Hmm...I doubt it would be able to run well at that resolution on any type of integrated graphics, even at low settings. Could you tell us what type of graphics are in your laptop?

you should be fine. I'm able to run it on a old laptop with a Intel Celeron M CPU 420 1.6 GHz Single Core processor and ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M series integrated GFX card. with only 1.5 GB of RAM at 1280x800 res. Only thing that lags is over unit. I'd stay away from zerg swarms.
