Just received a notice from Fraps that they've just released a new version of it which fixes various bugs.
Normally Fraps wont send emails out to people mentioning updates and what not and this is the first time I've had one from them since I purchased it in it's beta stage all those years ago.
Figured I would post this here considering I know some people record game footage and what not.

The only updates I really care about from Fraps are the ones that lower the resource impact it has while recording lol. Cutting FPS in half isn't really acceptable imo, especially with multi-core CPU's and dual-GPU configurations nowadays.

Looks like 3.2.8 did just that.

I haven't used FRAPs since I bought it... they stopped telling me about new versions since Fraps 3 :-\

I used the latest one that was 2 months before 2.9.0

Are you serious?
Please tell me you're not serious.
You could have gotten Fraps back then for about $5 when it was still being developed but decided to skimp out on it.

I'm running 3.2.9 now, was the latest version I could "find". Haven't been able to test how much better it does capturing though.

Just record to a different HDD. You won't get much more performance boosts out of new versions.

Cortexian

Yeah, I always do that. However, 3.2.8 included an update specifically to improve recording performance.

i had the same issue. you need a credit card or something to put money into a paypal account. if you just have cash, youre pretty out of luck.

If you have a debit card I think that will work as well.

Pretty much this. I thought you could get a free version or something? Not pirated.

There's a trial version that limits you to 30s recordings and places a watermark on all the media you use it to capture.

Here you can even give them your bank account information and they can pull the money automatically.

If they did I would just tell my bank and they would fix it???

Pretty much.
You enter your Debit details and they then just charge you by the details you enter.

Yeah exactly. Thats how I do my online shopping and I have never had any problems with it. And this is coming from someone who refuses to do banking online!

Patrickssj6
March 4th, 2011, 12:19 PM
I do almost all my online shopping this way.

Though the only company that makes problems with this method in the past was...PayPal. If you pay something with PayPal and they cannot get your money from your bank account, they have the right to lock it which means you cannot access your bank account anymore or something. Really shitty stuff but like I said, PayPal is the only company known to do this.

Yeah, but how often does that happen? I've been using PayPal for years and I've had zero issues. It's how I buy my games on Steam since I don't have a credit card (nor do I really wish to get one). Problem is that in Canada, PayPal doesn't let us link just our debit card/account for instant payments. I have to wait for over a week for a single transfer from my bank to PayPal. They only let Canadians link credit cards to enable instant payments. The stupid thing is that the credit card doesn't even get charged. It's just there as a back up for if your actual account doesn't have sufficient funds. I am contemplating getting a credit card PURELY for the purpose of linking it to PayPal to get those instant payments. I don't wish to rack up debt or pay interest/late fees for money I don't actually have.

What was this thread about again? Oh yeah. I find the latest update pretty much useless.

Not sure what it is exactly but when I bought a bunch of gift codes and stuff from Mojang AB (Minecraft) the payment went through instantly. I didn't even have enough money in the PayPal account so it definitely went instantly from my bank.

That's strange. You must have had sufficient funds on your PayPal account because PayPal doesn't allow transactions at all if you don't have the required amount in the PayPal account at the time of purchase. Well, actually if you do have a credit card linked, you may be able to do it.

Nah, I have my bank account linked to my paypal, and I just use the paypal. I never have any money in it at all, and it just takes instantly from my checking account. It's often a lot easier than entering the full card info on every website, and in addition it's safer. Yay.

I only have my Royal Bank of Canada account linked to my PayPal, no credit card is linked and I only had $1.30 USD in my PayPal account.

Mar 2, 2011 | Add Funds from a Bank Account | Completed | Details | $12.34 CAD
Mar 2, 2011 | Currency Conversion | Completed | Details | -$12.34 CAD
Mar 2, 2011 | Currency Conversion | Completed | Details | €12.34 EUR

That's what it showed, and it all went through instantly (amounts edited). It does say the following though:

Funding Type: Instant Transfer
Funding Source: $12.34 CAD - Royal Bank of Canada Savings (Confirmed) x-xxxx
Back Up Funding Source: Visa Card XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Maybe if you have a credit card linked to the account it makes instant bank transfers possible? Because everything points to the fact that this went through via my bank and not the credit card (which isn't the same bank).

This is the first PayPal transaction I've done that worked without having the required amount in my PayPal account. Usually I need to wait the 7-8 business days to transfer funds into my PayPal and then make the transaction.

As I said before, you need to have a credit card linked to get instant payments. It doesn't have be an RBC credit card or whatever bank that you use. Any credit card will do. I wonder if I can trick the system into permanently giving me instant payments by using a prepaid Visa card. That would save me frequent trips to a store to fill up the card.

I never had any problems either with PayPal but there are enough people that had. Imagine if someone steals your PayPal login information and buys something pricey which is over your bank account limit.

Fraps 3.4.0 - 29th March, 2011

Paypal doesn't allow that.
It give's you a message saying the bank has refused the transaction.

I wouldn't be too sure about that...maybe it's just a different system.

PayPal can't override the withdrawal or purchase restrictions on your bank account, they have absolutely no authority in that regard.

*Sigh* I have lived in both countries and the systems are totally different.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_debit

It does not even exist in the United States and in the UK it is different. The bank will block your account.
