Checked up on what Steam was doing at the moment, and saw they have a EA week going apparently from 2nd to the 6th (this week if you were wondering ;t: ).

http://store.steampowered.com/sale/eaweek

Dragon Age and sequel bullshit are 50% off and 25% respectively today.

Buying Mass Effect games when they go on sale.

ME1 was a Microsoft game, not EA, so there's no use waiting for that one. Buy ME1 now and get started on it sooner rather than later, I say. Also, get every single ME2 DLC - they're all worth it.

The Steam page lists ME1 as being published by EA; guess they handled either the PC port or the Steam deal

I do remember it going on sale along with ME2 a couple of times so I'd assume the same will happen here. I'll be getting both to help along my gradual transition to PC gaming (already had them on shitbox360), and I'm hoping that they'll mark Crysis 2 down a few bucks down as well so I'll have one less excuse to wait until they release Sandbox3

Microsoft had nothing to do with the Mass Effect series. But yeah DAO ultimate edition for $20 buy that if you don't own the game.

@Rook: Actually, MSGS had its logos all over the first Mass Effect on the Xbox 360. Even had a splash screen.

Ifafudafi: you too, eh? I'm trying to get as much of my console gaming as I can on to PC. I've always been a mostly PC person, but I want to drop playing on console until they finally get off their asses and release the next generation.

I also need to buy the Crysis series. Crysis 1 won't run on this game, but Crysis 2 should run rather well, especially considering that I have a G70 GPU...and so does the Playstation 3.

There's been some talk that you may be required to down Crysis 2 anyway to obtain Sandbox 3 using a method similar to the way Bungie worked with the Halo PC thing in reach.

Doesn't work like that.
The reason the consoles can run like they do with the hardware they have is because the developers can develop software closer to "the metal" as they like to call it.
They don't have to worry about subtle differences in architecture with the playstations so they can literally nail it on the head and draw as many frames as possible without worrying about subtle changes in GPU cores.
I've got an XFX 4850 1Gb and my copy runs on highest settings averaging 35FPS highest at 65Fps.
Admittedly my 2GB RAM is probably bottlenecking the entire thing [which is still 4 times the amount the consoles have] but you can see where I'm getting that.

I know it doesn't work like that. I was trolling developer's chronic inability to reasonably optimize for PC.

Sims are on sale but none of you are girls, so I just want to drop by to mention that SimCity 4 was badass back when it released forever ago and it might still be badass today (plus it's $5, you can't even get a cheeseburger meal for that little).

Now where are all the big titles

Lol, I thought you said something other than titles for a second.

Oh I found the big games

Mass Effect 1 for $5 (!), Mass 2 for $10

$15 for two of the best games of the decade imho, that's a fucking steal

Battlefield sale today!

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h262/amit9821/Untitled-1-1.png

Battlefield 2 Complete Collection is going for the Xmas 2010 price of $5.00! BUY THIS
Bad Company 2 is a record low at $6.80!
Bad Company 2 Vietnam is $7.49!
BC2 SPEC ACT DLC is $2.99!

Posted in Modacity Platoon Thread:

I am ordering every one who likes Battlefield to buy the Battlefield 2 Complete Collection today if you don't already own it. The price is so ridiculously low, you'd be crazy not to buy it.

BF2 offers larger squads (5 Men + 1 SqLdr), good in-game VOIP (not that shit BC2 had), the game changing commander role (apply at start of round), lots of vehicles, and the award winning land/air/sea combat that the Battlefield series is known for. This is the real Battlefield game to be playing. BC2 is good, but BF2 far surpasses it on all fronts except graphical capabilities (animations, models, textures), but that is to be expected of a game from 2005.

Seriously, but it. We'll have more enjoyable Battlefield Modacity Game Nights because it won't just be random running around, killing and capping. With the squad leader and commander roles, there will be organization to the match for more effective objective-based gameplay.

Steam can suck my left testicle. Why do UK users have to pay £6.80 for BC2, when the American price is also $6.80? (And I assume Australia is getting ripped off too).

That said I'm considering it.

LOL, you must be one of the few people who don't own the game on PC already lol. Well, if you do get it, drop a post in the Platoon thread (off-topic) with your in-game name and time zone.

BTW, nobody is really getting ripped off with this sale. The game did drop from $20US. That's still a huge deal for the UK and AUS dudes.

I like how Vietnam is more expensive than BC2 itself.

I bought:

Dragon Age Origins
NFS Hot Pursuit
Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion
BF2 (I have the disc version somewhere from long ago, but Steam rules, so at $5 why not?)

Considered buying MoH but I wasn't swayed at all by the beta (unlike with the BC2 beta which made me go "omg MUST BUY") and the reviews were only fair.

I somewhat regret buying Hot Pursuit for one reason - Autolog. That facebook imitation shit is the only way to get multiplayer, and it means offline LAN multiplayer is totally impossible - a bad thing for me as I frequently play with friends using laptops in offline ad-hoc mode. Also confirmed the console versions of Hot Pursuit have no split screen. It seems like EA and/or Criterion are getting quite douchey in their racing games :/ But otherwise the cars and crashes are awesome in Hot Pursuit and playing with humans is roaring fun.

As for Vietnam, tuk-tuk taxis ftw :D

Last steam sale, I was on vacation in Europe, and to bypass the EU regional pricing I just remote-desktoped into my university computer network and bought my games that way :P But yeah everyone outside of North America is getting ripped off, it's quite unfair. Every sale I end up helping a few Australian friends and cousins bypass regional pricing.

That's what I did for BC2 when I was in South America. It's sometimes a lifesaver to have log me in running all the time.

I made the decision to live under a rock after Mass Effect 2 was released to avoid spoilers, and now I find out that I have to buy the original because I can't transfer my 360 save. I know it was a stupid guess, but I thought I'd have some kind of true/false questionnare.

Dammit, now I'm going to have to replay the original, then go through the sequel again.

Oh, by the way, how exactly do you buy the DLC?

DLC is on the Bioware site.

Just login using the same login for the game, purchase the DLC, download the DLC installer, install it.
