A computer virus has infected the cockpits of America’s Predator and Reaper drones, logging pilots’ every keystroke as they remotely fly missions over Afghanistan and other warzones.

I am posting this because I am always amazed on how specialized these viruses are. Sleeping dormant until someone plugs the HDD into the target computer.

Military network security specialists aren’t sure whether the virus and its so-called “keylogger” payload were introduced intentionally or by accident; it may be a common piece of malware that just happened to make its way into these sensitive networks.

Oh and accident my ass :v:

I blame the Chinese insiders /paranoia.

Makes me confident that the F-35's with their on-board WiFi networks and computers will be extremely safe!

I blame North Korea.
And France.

Good. Maybe that will inhibit their ability to assassinate more American citizens by decree of the President without due process.

Doesn't this make them even more prone to infection?

Guess I should have used a SarcMark.

No, it was obvious enough :P

Not really as he was praising the F35's to hell and back just a few months ago.

I caught the sarcasm. :|

Also, lolcomputers. Military should not solely rely so much on digital wares.

That's kind of the point.

Being that drones are even more advanced in the computer/wireless department, it's kind of implied sarcasm.

Oh snap. I'm too behind the times on tech in flying shit. I like to stay on the ground :D

Pffff I don't see what everyone is worried about. Everyone knows the Government runs off of the latest Windows OS before ti's released to the public. Why do you think the stock market crashed back in 08?

Fucking Windows 7.

Not anymore than using firewire. Not like anything bad could happen with direct memory access on an SSD.

Interesting to know that a mere firewall separates the publicly networked workstations and the private classified stations that control our active war fighting measures. You know China's already gotten through to everything plugged into a military network now.

This virus is like Stuxnet. :P Quite interesting:

Oh good, so instead of lets say pitch+ on a drone a third party could suddenly change that to pitch-.

Then all of a sudden your drone never lifts off the runway and crashes into whatever's on the end. Goodie!

After each equation add * -1 ...total annihilation.

If it is something like that, the it's not only the drone fleet that's in trouble. Any future blocks for the F-22, F-35, F-18, etc. fleet is in danger as well.

Shouldn't pose a threat to them since they're all very different computer systems and avionics. Also the F-18's aren't networked at all, and I didn't think the F-22's were either. The F-35's could potentially be at risk since the pilot doesn't actually interact with any control surfaces, all controls are passed through electronics/avionics and then onto the mechanical.

Way to go U.S. Military. TeeK and I are always talking about how shortsighted it is relying so much on electronics without having manual back-ups.

I like this explanation. Time to buy an AK and as much 7.62 ammo as I can find...
