I just received Halo Anniversary in the mail today, so now I officially have all the Halo games on my Xbox (except Halo Wars, but that's not going to be part of the playthrough since it isn't FPS).

So, what I want to do and because we are all such big fans of Halo and love all of the games :downs:, I want to create something I'm calling The Great Halo Playthrough. We, as a community, will play each of the Halo games in order (whether by story/chronologically or by retail release date), one by one with each being played and discussed for a few days or a week.

Example:
Week 1- Halo CE
Week 2- Halo 2
etc

Would anyone be interested in joining in on this and having input on how we should go about this?

-Should we play the games based on the story, which puts Reach first and ODST in the middle of Halo 2, or play them by release date so we can see the evolution of Halo's gameplay?
-And what should be the time span for each game playthrough: a week per game or maybe 3-5 days?

In terms of discussion, anything is up for grabs, but talk about the current level you're on and how the previous levels went for you. Things you remember, nostalgia you're experiencing, perhaps random tips or funny things others should go back to and mess around with. Just talk about only that one game for each week.

Anyone interested then? I'm looking to start this playthrough soon, but give me your schedules so I can set this to an appropriate time for all. If you don't have one of the games, that's okay you can still join in and comment on what you know during that week.

Alright I made a poll, and you get multiple votes. Pick one from the first two, and one from the second two.

Personally I'm up for going through the evolution of Halo itself and going by release date, and I play through quickly so I've chosen less days per game since we have 6 games to go through. In terms of days I would say about 5 days per game, but I'll be watching everyone's input.

I don't have an xbox anymore so I could probably only so the Halo 1 and 2 playthroughs, still sounds interesting though.

I'll tack on that it doesn't matter what you play them on or what version (Halo 1 Xbox vs PC vs Anniversary), just no mods for Halo CE (so no CMT or others).

Basic raw game, with the exception of Anniversary. You can play with the pretty graphics because they are so pretty...so very pretty

I should ask because it might be important, but are we just doing this on whatever difficulty we feel like, or should we all play on the same difficulty?Anything but easy, because fuck that shit if you can't play past easy you don't deserve Halo and that's not real Halo.

Anything Normal or up is acceptable, I'll probably be doing it on Normal/Heroic but if people want to play Legendary they may.

http://www.modacity.net/forums/styles/smilies/extra/words.gifexcept Halo Warshttp://www.modacity.net/forums/styles/smilies/extra/words.gifgaaaaaaaaaayIt's not one of the FPS games which by the looks of it, we want to look at the evolution of those games and not the story (because then everyone would throw a fit now that I look at it).

So far it looks like we'll play the games by retail release date and have about 4-5 days per playthrough of each game.

I don't get how this works, do we all play seperatly and commentate or do we all get together on skype or something and play seperatly and just commentate and talk together?

Every 5 days we each play one of the games' campaigns by ourselves and then come here to this thread to commentate on our experiences. Nostalgia, frustrations, hilarious moments, etc.

So the first 5 days will be Halo 1. During those 5 days everyone will be playing through the Halo 1 campaign and sharing their experiences in this thread. After those 5 days are up, we'll move on to Halo 2 and the same happens. Pretty much it's going to be a gigantic discussion of all the Halo games, but organized from game to game and with your experiences/info updated since you've just played through that game's campaign.

It would've been nice if we could do a live giant Skype, but getting everone's schedules for that would've just been impossible. Especially with some members who live on the wrong opposite side of the planet.

I've actually got them all here >_>
I'd be down for this, might even be able to co-op them with my brother splitscreen.

Thanks. I might join if I can find the time to do so, if not I'll try to jump in later on whatever game you guys are playing then

If only all of the games had online co-op that supported more than 4 players...

I'm looking to start this end of the week, beginning with Halo 1 on Saturday. Each game will be played and discussed for 5 days, going in order from first game released to last, FPS games only (so again, no Halo Wars sorry Kornman too bad so sad).

Current schedule looks to be this:
July 13-17th - Halo 1
July 18th-22nd - Halo 2
July 23rd-27th - Halo 3
July 28th-August 1st - Halo 3: ODST
August 2nd-6th - Halo: Reach
August 7th-11th - Halo 4

Right now we're gameplay-focused and going through the games as the evolution of Halo's gameplay, though story is free to be discussed as well. Sound good? Everyone happy? Additions to be made?

Huh, seems I lost my Halo CD. Any chance anyone knows where I can get a clean .iso of it? I still have my CD key, but all the downloads I could find were some pretty iffy looking cracked ones.

I mean, I could play the campaign on CE I guess, but it's just not the same. Plus then I have to go and download all the maps one by one.

This starts tomorrow, just as a heads up. We'll begin with Halo 1, playing the entire campaign once through (and then going back if you wish).

Start your Xbox/360/PC yaaaaaaaaaaay

Yo let's go play some Halo 1, July 13th-17th gogoogogogo.

I'll start: So far I've played the first level and I must say it went by ridiculously fast because I've played it so much. Maybe next time I'll go exploring a bit, but I'm playing straight through. When I think about it, Pillar of Autumn is such a simple level and there's so much copy and paste of hallways and rooms it's kind of amazing to look back on and just see how fun the gameplay still is. That first encounter in the cafeteria is always so much fun for some reason, when the Assault Rifle comes up and you go "yep, here we go again."

Been busy, school and such. I did get to blast through a10 and I got to the first beacon in a30. I should be able to shoot through the rest tonight.
