Because my old thread became a spam fest, I've decided to make a new one. This is a place to post your current designs for whatever you may have cooked up; be it a weapon, some armor, whatever. Just post it here!
Here's my current work:
Old shotty idea...

The magenta is definitely the most fitting for the Brute, in fact it looks like it is well-designed for some kind of Brute berserker.

Yea, that was the only one that i liked. Ill try and whip up a few more, any suggestions? In case you havent noticed, i like working off of others ideas. I guess im just not that creative. :\

The magenta one is okay except for the fact it's in so many pieces.. It's not practical. The chin, cheek and ear plates should all be attached somehow.

Remember this from the old weapon design thread?:
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/4461/brutecarbineme2.png
At first I thought it looked good but now it just looks bad. So I decided to redesign my version of the Brute Carbine from the ground up and this is what I got:
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/4507/coviecarbinemkiibq9.png
Edit: Added fixed version.
Also please note this is really only half done. I plan on adding more detail especially to the middle areas.

I like your new carbine Archon, especially the color scheme. But as Reaper Man said, its really to small to distinguish any kind of detail.

No, see, that's where you're wrong.
It isn't omg hueg so you don't understand it. It has all the detail it needs, and if you need a bigger pic, he can always zoom into the part you want to see.
By that I mean draw a part of it bigger with more detail.
Oh, and I was working with him on it; the name is now the Brute Edge.

Basically he said it has all the detail and if he needs a bigger pic he can just zoom in on it. (aka magnifier)
Either way I don't see why you people need huge pics to see details. I mean I can see the small amounts of detail on the gun perfectly, and I'm near sighted.

It's... MODERN ART! :haw:
As in it's too formless and convuluted to account for a coherent base design.
It should be redesigned altogether. In fact, if you tell me how you want it to work and what it will shoot, I'll do it for you (I'm going to do it anyway, so if you want your vision of the gun to be considered you'll have to tell me).
No, see, that's where you're wrong.

Zooming into a low-res picture doesn't show you details, it just shows you giant pixels. Nice try, but you'll have to redesign the weapon, give us a bigger AND more detailed rendition, and learn how to appropriate your grammar for special occasions like these.
Also, come up with a more innovative name or I will.
This thread has a LOT of potential for creating add-ons to what we have already been exposed to in the canon Brute Sandbox.
I myself am designing a heavy Brute weapon that's based on a chaingun from Star Wars: Republic Commandos, but I'm still vascillating between many different functions... so far I've been running through ideas such as an anti-personnel (or anti-aircraft) flak cannon, a suppression-class Spiker, a shrapnel-flinging chaingun, or something that volleys cannonball-esque grenades that are lined with ridges so that they will "run" across the ground or off of a deflect before detonating.
Archon23
July 31st, 2007, 01:50 PM
I redesigned it altogether anyway. Its on paper and my scanners busted though. Think Covenant Carbine with superheated rounds. Mostly its just a slower rate of fire but packs more punch.

The gun as it is looks too deformed to have any realistic function. It wouldn't fit the hand of any of the Covenant, let alone human, user. While some people may disregard ergonomics and appearance completely, they are actually a very important part of a weapon. Without ergonomics, the weapon becomes stressful to use, and the soldier may fatigue faster or have lesser marksmanship as a result. It may also lead to health issues later down the line. The appearance of the weapon also has a psychological effect on both friendly and hostile troops. A good looking gun will lend its users to believe that it is reliable and can be counted upon, and will give a morale boost. If that same weapon also happens to look intimidating, it will also inspire its users while at the same time striking some level of fear into the enemy forces. The firing report will instill fear as well, with some time, but only if the weapon itself has a reputation.
Just my two kopecks.

Warsaw
August 4th, 2007, 07:54 PM
That is not a scope per-se. It's a terminal for a holographic magnifier that is only visible to the user if he/she is wearing the proper head gear. Also, the stock isn't long, the gun is small. If you look at how big the grip is and draw a hand of matching size, you'll see that it sits at quite a comfortable distance from the shoulder.

That bullet better be out of proportion, because if thats what a 7mm round looks like up to your gun, then you might want to change your target infantry man from a dwarf to a standard combatant.
It looks like the M4 carbine, very WWII-ish.
Archon23

Course its out of proportion. Compare the bullet to the magazine.
Warsaw
August 21st, 2007, 12:17 AM
Yes...lol. I do believe I wrote "1:1" or some such scripture somewhere near the bullet, to reference the round's actual size in real life.
And M4 carbine? Did you mean the SOC 16 version of the M14?
And the infantry guy does not wield the weapon above his head, he wields the ones on page four (4). Not to scale, of course.
Also, ignore the warps on the straight lines...those aren't there on the hard copy, that's just the scanner missing bits.

(really it looks like cheezy 80-90's sci-fi)
Warsaw
September 1st, 2007, 12:02 AM
It isn't supposed to look futuristic. It is intended to be a blend of the archaic with some science-fiction overlays. It is going for a World War I/Medieval look. However, those armor plates supply a plasma shield (only where they cover and a few centimeters around that) that can stop up to 10,000 joules of energy before they fail. Even the fabric is an advanced material capable of absorbing 250 joules of energy before the user will feel it. Those goggles contain a map, navigation markers, and can display a live video feed from elsewhere on the battlefield. All this is from the year 10,355EE. Humanity has progressed quite far (they span an entire galaxy), but has also regressed in other areas.
I would go into an elaboration, but that would be a ridiculously long post.

getting back on track:
you've probably seen this on one of my other threads, but for those of you that havent;
prolite:
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4638/proliteaa3.jpg
the prolite series of elite is based from an alternate dimension of halo, in which the human-covie war continues (but MC fails in "finishing this fight") the prolite is unique from other elite classes, instead of using plasma to power everything, they use psi or rather psionic energy (energy of the mind). their weaponry expells raw energy for use as a projectile or an extremely powerful melee weapon which ranges from a variety of guns to raw energy swords and pikes. their shielding also has a different aura than that of previous elite classes in that it appears like more of a glow encompassing the body of the user rather than a forcefield of lightning bolt-like plasma that the current elites use

Archaic/World War I* (World War II is overrated and overdone).
That armor and the idea is very interesting. It makes me want to go back and look over some of my ancient (in more ways than one) Elite and Forerunner armor systems. However, the psionic energy (psynergy, a la Golden Sun), is leaving the realm of Halo and entering the realm of Fantasy.
Expect three (3) new weapons from me later today.

well i didn't know about the whole psionic energy thing beign in rpg but i knew that it did look protoss. infact i got the idea from the protoss race because i felt that they did have in common with the convenant (i could go into detail but for the sake of simplicity you could pm me and ask me later)... back on topic, he is actually elite, it's just his mandibles are hidden under protective plating.
current projects:
suria (new level inspired by epitaph, valhalla, danger canyon, and many other things from the halo universe... have pics up but decided not to post already posted material... keeping spam down)
various concepts designs (prolite is one of them, but there'll be more i promise)the ideas i have in store for concept are a siege jackal (jackal with armor plating, not the puny crap they wear in the games), MJOLINR Mark X (spartan V program, nothing ever imagined in halo universe.... but in parallel universe), assualt marine, EVA marine, new ODST variants, prolite beserker (you've seen him already), pretty much all other prolite ranks have the elite name but with prolite in front of it ( like prolite ultra, prolite guard, prolite ascendant (replaces the arbiter), prolite spec-ops, major and minor). other things include (not ever done before) a human transfused with elite (and probably hunter, depending on how creative i want to be) DNA that also duns the special psionic armor.
suria, definately gonig to be finished, other stuff really depends on how much time i get, how bored i am, and how close i am to penicl and paper.
modeling the prolite and other characters isn't goign to happen (unless someone want's to do it go ahead) i just drew them cos i like to draw

the elite pwns (more than mine, the limbs look at aquard positions) dont like the guns tho, too simplistic...
but for all intensive purposes (your WWI-meets-future storyline works)
i can imagine flying ninjas with revolvers and single-action rifles

That Elite is totally unrelated to my weapons and all...drew that for a long dead idea of a mod awhile back.
I am reworking that craptastic pulse-laser sniper I posted awhile back. Should be done sometime within the week, when I get time to finish.
