1280x720, for now because I have a ATI Radeon 9600Pro and a 17" LCD monitor. When I upgrade my video card, it will probably be higher.

I use 640 x 480. Although I just upgraded my comp, so I started to run 1280 x 720 last night.

Why isn't 1024 x 768 on the poll? Thats like the most generic resolution. Anyway, thats what I use, cause my 19 inch monitor is like one of the first 19 inch LCD's ever made and it's ancient. When ever I set it anything higher than 1024 x 768 for some games, my monitor looses its signal. I wish I could run it on 1280 x 1024 like I do for windows and valve games... looks so much better...

I must say, I am surprised to see that 800x600 is the leading resolution, judging by some of the rigs I've seen people list that they own.

Mine WOULD be 1600x1200, except I didn't know that switching to a flatpanel monitor would kill your maximum resolution. Mine is 1280x1024, only because that's how high my monitor will go. :(

actually they are projecting, so they dont even run at that high of a resolution. its decent, but not quite that out there.

I think this guy means 1920x1080 aka 1080p 16:9.
and guys, a cinema's resolution isn't that high. It looks clear because you view it from far away.
I'm too lazy to run a FOV hack so I run at 1280x1024 on my desktop despite having a 1680x1050 screen. But it seems that on my laptop 1280x800 is selectable without any hacks, so I use that.

No, I meant 100900000200 x 100800000000
Which actually was a flaw of mine because thats not actually a widescreen resolution, put the zero's in the wrong place. But in reality I run it on 1280 x 1024, I think by now most people run around that res.

lol, at least its remotely new, i have one from years ago, still runin halo in full color (thats a fuckin privlige on some set up's ive seen).
btw- i cant stand windowed mode, ick, too small on the resolutions i run, and too big on my native res (obviously...) i just stick with the smallest possible in full screen, looks the same as a higher resolution to me.

I've been experiencing some problems with 1280 x 720 though. When i run it, The chat and who killed who is gone. (you know, the one on the left). I thought changing it back would help, but now its gone...
[Off Topic]On a separate note, do you know if an old pny series 4 card will work on a Vista Comp with an XP driver? [/Off Topic]
RedBaron
August 10th, 2007, 11:20 AM
No, that's just because you, or the server lags. Since it happens all the time, its probably the former. And why would you want a series 4 anyway? I doubt it's even supported by vista.
UrKungFuSux
August 10th, 2007, 11:23 AM
well, I'm a bit strapped for cash. I can probably afford a new one, but I figure if I have a decent one, I should use it. But I guess it won't work? Should I try anyways? Will my computer explode?!?!?!?! =] Who knows.

A 5 series is already pathetic today, but a 4 is ancient. I was on my friends comp, and I even thought his 6120e was pathetic. We are talking about nvidia geforce right? I think PNY only made nvidia cards...

To be Honest I don't know my resolution. In the settings it says 800x600 but I know thats not true because when ever I start up Halo CE my monitor auto adjusts it so it is perfectly centered and up to the edges of the monitor. So if anyone knows how to figure it out please tell me.
RedBaron
August 13th, 2007, 11:12 AM
It is 800x600. Monitors with larger native resolutions will stretch the picture out to make it fit the screen. This makes the picture even more pixelated, and since halo 1 doesn't have any built in anti-aliasing software, the only solution is to bump up the resolution. The only way that a game won't fill the screen is that if you play in a window, or the resolution that you chose isn't even supported by your monitor, in which case it should instantly change back to your old choice whenever you are changing the settings.

Make it run even higher if you can. The more screen space you can have it occupy and the smoother you can make the picture (while retaining good performance), the better.

Where is the 1024x768 option? I play 1024x768 everything high and get around 30-40 fps. Go x1650! Boo 6200!

1024x768. Everything on high... get relatively good framerate. My comp is total ass though, can't even play CS:Source on low with any more than twenty five frames
DrunkenSamus
September 8th, 2007, 12:25 AM
That's really strange. I could run CS: Source on high, 1024x768(except AA,etc)and get normal FPS. But on Halo if I run any resoultion higher than 800x600 it lags heavily.
