View Full Version : Some quick questions which CMT can answer...

I realize that CMT doesn't need to answer half of these questions, I can probably do it in the HCE General Discussion, but because I'm too lazy to make 2 topics, I'll just post them here.
OK, here we go:
1. How do you make it so the fire rate goes up gradually a la Assault Carbine?
2. How would you make it so the Plasma Nades' glow increases after it is thrown like in the CMT maps?
3. How do you unlock the first few maps so I don't get that EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION error in Sapien? I extracted the tags recursively, I don't want to have to redo all of the AI, and changing it to Multiplayer didn't help. This is the error:
08.23.07 23:03:35 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------

08.23.07 23:04:02 00000008 ?????
08.23.07 23:04:02 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION4. How do you add in new AI encounters without scripting? Whenever I do it, the AI don't appear.
5. How do you add in new weapons and vehicles without scripting? Probably the same answer as above, but just in case.
6. Can someone link me to CMT's fixed 343 GS tags? I can't seem to find them. I found it once, but I never downloaded because I had no use for them at the time.
7. I replaced my .sound_looping tag reference in Guerrilla from the remix of the Halo theme played on the Silent Cartographer to a .sound_looping tag of the MIJOLNIR mix, and it doesn't play. It plays fine on my testing Blood Gulch, but not on the Silent Cartographer. Why?
8. How do you fix it so the Pelicans pick up and drop off in the right spots? My Warthog is delivered in the wrong spot, and the extraction Pelican is 20 feet in the air.

+rep to anyone who answers a question and gets it to work.

1. Rate of fire to and from values, plus the acceleration and deceleration ones.
2. Lens flare scaled by a function.
3. What?
4. You can't add new encounters, only add onto them.
5. Simple, swap off the weapons in the scenario with the ones you want in. (This goes for AI, starting weapons, and the weapons pallet blocks)
6. IIRC, they should be on halomaps.

For number 3, I can't open any level from the POA to Truth and Reconciliation, or I get this:

08.23.07 23:04:02 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION+rep anyway for answering 4 out of 6. I can't seem to find the 343 GS tags on Halomaps.

For number 4 you can add new encounters without scripting by checking off manual bsp index specified in the encounter properties in sapien, and setting the bsp index. (0= bsp1)

jay jay jay... why didnt you ask your ol buddy ironclad? dont you know i mod the campaign?

1:cad answered
2:idk
3:....?
4:ive always been able to add encounters just fine, as long as manual bsp index is checked off in encounter properties
5: just hit edit types and select the weapon/vehicle, then place them in the map. for weapons, you need to specify exactly how much ammo is in the clip, and left over or else it will be entirely empty. specify this in the property pallette

+rep to you two for bringing the count to 5 answered, 1 not. I still need to know how I can fix number 3, though.
EDIT: I'm adding another couple questions to the list. Why?
Also, how do you fix it so the Pelicans pick up and drop off in the right spots? My Warthog is delivered in the wrong spot, and the extraction Pelican is 20 feet in the air.

7. Dont replace the tag, just modify it.
8. Recorded animation problems

I already fixed the Pelican problem (Thanks Masterz!), now you get a +rep for telling me how to fix the music problem.

Re-rip the music.

I don't know much about it, but I would guess you would have to select a certain point in the level (like a certain checkpoint, load point, or enemy spawn point) where you want the music to start. This is so the Halo engine knows to load it. If you didn't do this, the music is probably sitting there uselessly because there's no command in the map file to start it. You might also need to set up a point for it to end, or it will keep playing and possibly looping throughout the rest of the level.
