CMT Chat console released.

Heya guys, I've just finished some new chat consoles for CMT, and I'm releasing them right now :) The grey bar at the bottom of the screen is unavoidable, coded in. The blue interface only comes up when you press T. This is just to pretty up the game. This works for both Halo CE and PC

How to Install:

Back up your CE root/Content folder
Extract the downloaded archive to the CE root (it should replace 27 files)

I like it except for the text at the top left of the screen that says "enabled by Conscars".

Though Conscars deserves credit for it certainly, I wish it'd only appear at the title screen or only when you pull up the chatbox, as it makes the whole game look like a screenshot.

i don't know, as I haven't used it yet. My only guess is press "esc" like you would for the original one.

Erm, you know, they REPLACE files in your content folder. Meaning - you don't close it out. There's a translucent image behind the chat box; they just replaced that, and changed the font along with the font color and size. You can't disable it unless you replace your new content folder with your old content folder. I just have a Segoe UI size...8 (i think) font, normal, with red coloring. Yeah.

hm... regarding the "enabled by conscars" text (or whatever it says), maybe one of the files in the new folder is for it. Will check later and report my findings.

I agree. If it showed up in the beginning of the game and then disappeared after 10-15 seconds, that would be fine. Otherwise, it's kind of annoying.

Yes, it closes. Just press whatever key you use to type chat text and it will bring up the console window again.

I think it looks great. I use it on halo pc and on ce. Though because of the color of the text its kind of hard to read. Is there a fast way to change the color? like some text file to edit or something?

i think ill just stick with the original, this looks nice, but too many people are having trouble in it. the software beta tester in me says this is PoS worthy.

Try installing msxmlenu.msi that's in your Halo CE\redist\ folder.

that works fine, but the bar on the bottom of the screen is grayed out because by default the game doesn't have a bar for that res. If you guys fix it then please add that in as well as other widescreen resolutions like 1400x900, 1680x1050,1920x1080 and 1900x1200 (think thats it).

There's a slight bug with it and CMT maps. Sometimes I have to press "t" to see what people have said. Nothing shows up onscreen regarding it, like "<player name> was killed by <player name>" or "you killed <player name>"

Back up your content folder before doing this.

In the content folder, there will be files called "480log.ksml"; "600log.ksml"; "720log.ksml"; "1024log.ksml" and so on. Open these files in notepad and remove the following part:

<label font="Segoe UI-5-italic" text="Custom chat console enabled, by Conscars" color="#98F5FF"

Note: The number after "UI-" will be different depending on what file you have opened - I got this line from the "480log.ksml" file.

Save the file and move on to the next one (Only for the *log.ksml files - leave the *editbox.ksml files alone) until you have removed it from them all. Start up Halo CE and check that it worked.

Eh...I like it, but what about team and vehicle chat? I tried it by myself and it didn't show and difference from open or team. I'm not sure if it does it with people yet, though. =/

I think the bar at the bottom is put there by the Halo PC engine while you're in chat mode, meaning no way to get rid of it. (it also helps let me know I'm trying to run away from enemy fire and instead typing cryptic messages that even I can't understand. :))
