Hello H2Vista.net.

I have a problem in that when I try to open a .scenario file in sapien, it tells me that the file is corrupt.

I have done 'compile and light' 'compile' and 'light' in various orders with no success. I followed (teh lag, I think)'s advice that the problem is to do with lightmaps and trying manually, with guerilla, to set it to the correct lightmap, which doesn't exist, so then setting the lightmap to 'example'. This does allow me to open the file, but obviously it'd be nice to be able to make my own lightmap.

I think the problem is in the lighting, as the cmd prompt box told me that all of the numbers of photons cast etc were 0. Now, after associating the example lightmap, when I only light, it says:

usage: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2 Map Editor\\h2tool.exe verb <opti
ons..>
lightmaps <scenario> <bsp-name> <quality-setting>
Press any key to continue . . .

I imagine i'd supposed to chose on of those options, but can't due to the 'press any key to continue'

Just now I managed to relight a map which I'd lit without error before, which worked. I thought it must have been an error with the map (I had tried others, but all of which were newish) so I saved the max file as something else, and reexported it. When I came to compile and light I got the same problem.

I'm pretty new to map making and have no more ideas as to how to solve this problem, so was hoping one of you would have the answer.

(oh, and I have got a b-levelroot, I have put everything to 0,0,0 and I have made the level a multisub object and textured it as such.)

I may have forgotten some things as I didn't expect at the time to be having to remember what I did, so if/when I remember, I'll add them. Thanks in advance.

You did select an ass-file to compile and light right? And is your directory-structure as it should? That h2tool output is as if you would run h2tool without parameters.

Afraid so.

I've done this before without problems, but now it will not create lightmaps properly. (or at all)

I may just reinstall the Map Editor, can't do any harm. Is it just the 'Tags' and 'Data' folders I need to back up?

Edit: Eureka! What you said made me look at the file names, and it appears all of the failures had spaces in the name. I resaved a couple of my failed tests without spaces and they worked. Thank you very much Vicky. +rep!
