So after playing MP3 I got inspired to upgrade the CMT HUD, with an in visor view.
The initial outline for the whole visor.

And progress as of now.

I am begining to start work on teh lower haf later today, but am not totaly sure if my bottom outline is the best thing to be using for the HUD. Note that THE SIZE OF THE MOTION TRACKER CAN NOT BE CHANGED. Feel free to give critism, ideas, concepts and rep.

It's awesome, but I don't think it needs that many exclamation marks.

Whoa, this is pretty good, would look a bit more natural if there was some curving though. I don't expect you to change your concept though.

I actually like that, I also don't honestly see how that can distract a person in combat. This worked well in Metroid Prime, why not Halo?

Looks alright.
On a side note, the cross-hairs on the scope add too much cheese factor, as does the rail. They just stand out too much.

Well isn't the new Sniper gonna replace this couple year old one?
Gah the fact that the "Holding ammo" counter touches the left side of the box its in annoys me. ><

Just a note, on the last photo, the plasma grenade count is 8. Will we be able to carry 8 grenades now?

New sniper might be done this weekend.
I'll fix that holding ammo counter, it's been bugging me for a while now too.
In render (our sandbox) you spawn with 80 nades, 4 is the max of each type but BRG, which has 6.

Also, the HUD looks really nice. Your team members got some serious skills and have made some pretty nice stuff recently!

Now now guys lets be nice, suppresion of opinions is for Orwell D:
Though tbh, this is not the first time we've tried getting an FP visor effect, so it's not a purely omgcopyh3 moment.

Actually, I forgot. You are correct. For those who don't know, the HUD which you see was actually in concept since months before the first leaked screenshot of Halo 3 even surfaced. Wave of Lag was working on the first person visor view for the CMT campaign mod, but never made it to the final.

Cause Metroid is so much better than Halo. :D
Minus the online multiplayer...;)
It looks good, kinda boxy, but eh, better than the old.

Actually, WOL has said many times that it was never for CMT, and that it was for Evo. Regardless, the idea of FP visor was from Metroid, before evo, cmt, or bungie ever implimented it.

Suggestion? Tint the peripheral vision in a fading, translucent brazen gold instead of white.
Also, the current outline of the overlaying design looks nothing like the design that's actually on the visor. :-\

hate to be a buzzkill, but would the chief really see the inside of his own helmet that much? im not really fond of the one in halo 3 either though. though i dont really like the style, ill say that it was done well.

Looks [alright] EDIT:meh for a start.
H3 has a better approach of helmet view though. I mean the hexagons showing up when you get hit were supposed to be inside helmet thingys, right? It sure looked like it to me. Also the slight bowing of the upper hud stuff added to the SW: republic commando feel.
Oh and btw what happened to the SPV1 prerelease helemt hud? i kinda liked that one.
Even if theres evidence to the contrary, i dont mean to be a party pooper. :(

This is awesome, but I have one question, considering that this is inside the helmet behind the visor. How will it look when we are driving vehicles? Because we are in 3rd person which is not behind the visor, while driving.

So what's going in the bottom right corner?
There's a box and it looks like somethings going in there.
IS something going in there?

It hasn't been put in yet. That is just an outline of where the visor lines are going to be. If you read his post he said "PROGRESS SO FAR." That is why there are no lines where the corner ones are yet in the other to pics.

I think you should go a step above h3 and do like the Metroid thing did and have actual 3d edges of chiefs visor in the view....I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say...but it had little pieces of Aran's helmet visible in the view and not just the HUD. Why not do that for MC?...like maybe the little parts that stick out above the visor...but just barely visible...
Edit: and some small transparency with the rest of the hud would make it look nicer you know...but not much.
Edit again: Also...some curvature would be secks "C"....not to say "BE H3 OMG ROFL NUB YAY!!!!"

No, just plain no, that would ruin my whole game experiance if it changed to metroid style. If I want to play something like metroid, I'll fucking buy metroid. I play halo because I want to play halo, not a Metroid-Halo game.

Eh, its a good concept but i dont think it should be hollow...More like its totally solid :\.
Infact, a Hud with parts of the MC's Helmet would be way better then this Metroidish Mess :|.
RedBaron
September 10th, 2007, 06:59 PM
How would that even be possible? MC's eyes would have to be on his forehead, or next to his nose in order to see the very edges of the helmet. Anypart of his helmet that is gold is completely transparent (cept for some contours ala H3, and this new idea for SPv2). The material used for the gold is glass that can autopolymarize according to how much light the MJOLNIR suite detects. It's the same exact stuff that astronauts use today to protect their eyes from harmful radiation (sunlight that is not filtered through an ozone). Basically, the gold is actually glass that can change transparency automatically similar to the transition eye glasses that people use (I use). Bungie doesn't show this ingame because they don't want, and they REALLY don't want people seeing MC's real face past the helmet that would sometimes be semi transparent depending on the surrounding light. Well I'm only saying this for the mark V, cause the mark VI has an extended hat thing on the top that you just might be able to see. Theres is no way for either suits to see anything on the bottom of the helmet towards the mouth. The reason why you can see it in Metroid was because the visor was T shaped.

Also: Do you think that they are trying to copy the HUD lines...? Im jsut asking...
