View Full Version : CMT HUD Update and poll

All of you who have been following cmt progress know we have been working on the new HUD. Following the day after the first map pack release, I began work on the weapons HUD (Kudos to polar bear for fixing the alpha gradients, everyone was stumped) and finally have got all but one complete. Here is what the HUD looks like on a normal gun.

The biggest problem with the SL, is that when a weapon uses a lens flare in it, the game places it on top of everything else, including the HUD. I haven't bothered fixing the other SL hud errors, since we may not be able to keep it since of the lens flare error.
I am open to new ideas on what to do with this, my current ideas are in the poll above.

Leave out the upper right part on the SL, its easy enough to tell when its firing, charging, and out of ammo.

I'd say shorten. It's better than some random forced static, better than no hud at all, and of course better than with the bug.

Wait...there's an idea. Leave out the upper right part on the Spartan Laser,
and just put the amount of ammo left on the black space on the Spartan Laser, like the AR.

Well static seems ok, that could make it more balanced as in, only an idiot would pick it up. The static would could vision and make it so noobs wouldn't pick it up just to noob everyone with it, and people would only use it for anti-vehicle purposes because of the static, but the static would only be clear enough to take out vehicles.

yes, I like that look of that more then what CMT has right now, it is easy, and it fits the look, more then that other one, it made me think I was playing Starcraft.

I like the horizontal look better as well, the vertical one looked stretched out and kind of wierd.

If they did that, wouldn't the plasma weapons, which are theoretically hundreds of times more radioactive than a simple laser, have to practically render the visor useless?

To be honest, I don't see why a laser would be radioactive at ALL. It's just a beam of light.

make the shield halo 2 style, and no more health meter, health meter sucks, it keeps making me go crazy and looking for a health pack, its just annoying! But so far, anything else is fine, including the cool skins, and you guys, since you have like really good applications for making maps, you should really make an energy sword, just try to make one, like cmt_zanzibar, or something.

The SL is just fine, but the new HUD? no...just the shield meter and only the shield meter, and the bullet/ammo counter on the HUD, make it like what you normally did in the first map pack #1. Then, U guys are cool! Keep on Working CMT!:cool:

Well, laser is just an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

You can't do the shield and no health. You would still be wounded. We're the CMT team, not the Halo 2 or Halo 3 team.

You could attempt a fake lens flare, It's kinda hard to explain. You could place a single plane in front of the barrel, and have an animated bitmap similar to the current lens flare, or use the bitmaps already used for that lens flare. Give it self illumination in the multipurpose. I dunno, just putting forward an idea. The lens flare could be kept in 3p.

so were going back to halo 1? aaaahhh...i c. Bleh, then what ARE u going to do in CMT_Sidewinder then? Ok fine, i decided to leave about the health issue, but can u still do the Brute_Sandbox, making a redone brute shot (cuz in h2_coag, it was all crappy), spike grenades, and a spiker that's spikes shoot faster, cuz some ppl think that the spiker is too slow. Its nearly impossible to kill anyone with the spiker. And the SP turret, make it rebalanced. The SL can be 1 hit KO for drivers in vehicles and in person. =);)

Lo fucking L. Because obviously, you can do self illumination on a transparent shader right? I mean, you must be some kind of big bad ass modder, who knows everything right?!!! Yes reaper you fucking fail. There's a reason why some things have to be funtions :rolleyes:

Anyway, I'm locking the topic seeing as it's served it's purpose. Not to mention, reaper's ego rides him, rather than the other way around.
