A Brazilian man wanted to collect his debt from a woman so he broke into her house and pulled a gun on her. It turns out that the gun was a toy gun Light Phaser made for SEGA video games. The man broke into a 60 year old woman’s house in Brazil’s Federal District. He then held her hostage for 10 hours. Eventually, he let her go unharmed after negotiating with the police. Kids, don’t get any ideas.

I want to say desperation has hit a new low, but I'm pretty sure we've seen worse.
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
dont fuck with laser guns
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
You'd be suprised how much damage those things can do.
Then again, you would have to throw it at someone to do the damage, but you get my point. He was armed and dangerous. :D
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
I should go rob a bank with my guncon2 right now.
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
Time to take my friend's [lastic BB replica gun, paint the orange tip black, and go on a rampage. Actually IIRC some messed up teen actually did this one time, he got shot and mortally wounded by the cops.
This article made my day, lol. LOL @ how the cops pulled out their Brazillian SWAT complete with riot shield to deal with the situation...
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
Yeah, it's funny how they thought someone's life was endangered when it actually wasn't!
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
To be fair, at that distance it probably looked like a real gun to police, and the hostages were probably to shocked by being taken hostage to actually notice that it was a fake gun. The response by the police was appropriate given the information they probably had. Same with the hostage too.
Re: Man holds family hostage with a Sega Light Phaser
I'm so gonna gank two of those pistols from the Area 51-esque arcade games (y'know, there's one red and one blue one - Timo has a pic of them in his rotating sig somewhere) and rob a bank with 'em.
You'll see me in the news, and I'll probably be successful.

Ahhh videogame violence...
