I had an old thread, but its all crappy. I wanted to start fresh with my newer stuff. Oldest to newest:

Confusing

Friends Beamer (Fish-eye lens)
All of these were taken with my Canon Rebel XS. That's it for now, let me know what you think.

Re: [Gallery] Photography (New)
The flower and perspective shot on the guitar neck have the best composition, in my humble opinion using my untrained eye. :)

Re: [Gallery] Photography (New)
Found the first two a little uninteresting, sorry. The third has some nice qualities to it but still the subject matter doesn't make me want to keep looking. However, there's something about the last image that I really like. Really mood-setting despite being just a photo :)
Re: [Gallery] Photography (New)
The first is better than the second because there's a line in there that you can follow through and has a nice bit of bokeh, but the second isn't that great to look at. There's nothing that takes you from the point of focus to the out of focus area.
For really shallow focus shots like those, you need to either have nice bokeh or some form of curve/line/detail you can follow into the out of focus areas. Ensuring the small area that is in focus is really sharp also helps (in my opinion, i'm a really sucker for sharpness).

The candles are very interesting
Re: [Gallery] Photography (New)
I agree with what Timo said, the second photo is rather boring. Also do not try not to overuse B/W.
Re: [Gallery] Photography (New)
Thanks for the input guys. I agree that the first two are pretty boring, I was just a bit fascinated by how shallow I could focus with my fish eye, ha. Also I do try not to rely on B&W, I just seem to shoot in monochrome without really thinking about it and randomly get good shots. But I'll try to stay away from it.
The third photo, Con, I would say that the colors and overall tone is what makes it interesting, but you're right there isn't really any subject to look at. I've received a lot of good feedback on the candles though. Its not as sharp as I would have liked it however, because I didn't have a tripod at the time.
Anyways, two newbies. Took these around midnight- 2 am, It was briiigghhtt:

E: the first one may be a bit dark depending on your monitor, but its meant to be bright enough to see the windows etc. in the building.
Re: [Gallery] Photography (New)
Sorry for the double post, but this place is rather dead soo...
Heres some new ones, I've learning a lot more about my camera lately so hopefully these are an improvement:

Caterpillers

I did the best I could for those macro shots with the lens I have (fish eye attachment on stock 18-55mm, zoomed to 55) but I just couldn't get it as sharp and focused as I wanted it. though I think it turned out pretty well considering.

What's with that streek in the last pic?
