Product Keys
So, XF has had three servers running for the past several months. Originally, they all ran with my personal copy of Halo2 product key. No problems. Well that 1st game update (not the live update), came around and killed all my servers for using the same product key. Damn them!!
So now I've gotten some other clan members to give me their product keys and each server is running on it's own key. Except, I can't use mine for any one of them. weird huh? Even though I can still play the game, I can't use the product key toward a server. Here's the error:

So even though there are no other servers running with my prod key, it now seems to be 'locked'. Although I can still play the game.
Ideas?
PS-Sorry to post this here. But the actual Microsoft forums are less than worthless.

Re: Product Keys
Buy another copy of the game. Don't ask for keys here if that is what you want.

Re: Product Keys
Huh looks like there's a max of how many uses the key can be used?

Re: Product Keys
I'm NOT looking for product keys... I'm simply looking for an explanation of the situation and what to try to correct it.
As I said, "The official forums are less than worthless"

Re: Product Keys
That really makes no sense. Maybe you have to delete the product keys from the registry under the Halo 2 dedicated server. Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling the dedicated server. Maybe that might work.

Re: Product Keys
And I think they allowed dedicated servers to run off of keys that are already used.

Re: Product Keys
You understand why I got Evo to leave H2V so early? I used your product in a way Live didn't intend and now it's barred from doing so again.

Re: Product Keys
Knock knock M$...
GJ again... someone should hack their 'live' database to make users that **** own the game make them able to reinstall a 100+ times without problems (it could be my hobby to uninstall and re-install my game every day) and it seems same could be done for hosting servers. Probably same reason why H2V is not (or hardly) hosted by any official gamehost.

Re: Product Keys
I wonder how the key is actually used; if h2server can be tricked into not needing a key, or if LIVE actually requires it to connect. I also wonder if the server runs through a silent product activation, or if it is done by the number of the same LIVE keys currently on the LIVE network.
If anyone wants to get a better understanding of this and has the capacity to do so, then you are permitted to make a thread. Tear everything pieces, for all I care. They probably don't care much either with them giving us the cols shoulder.
