It seems like when GoW1 came out it was the beginning of the UT3 engine; now that it is out and can do more than ever I expect GoW 2 to be a complete overhaul.

Too bad it's not coming to PC- well, not immediately.

looks insanely better than GOW 1.
Pretty on-par with UT3's lighting engine though. A lot of the "Gears of War 2" upgrades were actually done in UT3... not all -- but a lot. Some advanced character lighting -- yes... but not that render 150 locust onscreen at one time stuff, but advanced over Gears of War 1 (Xbox) none the less.
