Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Could it be the strings version?or does that matter..My strings version is 1.0.0.1 ..That shouldnt matter right?
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
I believe strings.dll always reads that version, regardless of the update. However, the strings.dll is different with each update. Oh well.
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
So i could basicly do like De lux to get it working.. But when the official build is realesed, Will i need to it that way always?
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Hopefully you won't have to. I seems like it's working, but something is happening to CE while loading it which is causing the game to crash.
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Could it be a other dll interfering the OS dll to work properly with halo?
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Got it working, fresh install on fresh install of Windows 7 (Build 7137).
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Freelancer, there has to be something in common that was interfering on both your laptop and desktop when you had the problem. Is there anything you can think of?
If you don't mind, can you copy the clean install of CE from Windows 7 to your other installation of Windows which CE didn't work on? Then we can isolate if it is something related to the game.

I've had Rec0's app installed on both boxes, but I replaced all the changed files with original 1.08 ones when I tried to test OS... No idea what else it could have been... My Vista installation never had Rec0's app installed, yet it refused to boot Halo at all with OS applied. However, I've had the Vista installation for quite a long time so there's most likely SOMETHING I'm forgetting...
I'll copy my install and try it out in a bit.
P.s. On my most recent (successful attempt) it was on Windows 7 build 7137, using the DXTweaker camofix.
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
I have JUST BARELY reinstalled CE only about 2 weeks ago due to some files becoming corrupted by mistake when I was trying to work with Open Sauce (before I tried this release, I was working independently). I tried to run this build of OS with that clean install, so it MUST be something either about my computer or the game itself.
Everything on this computer is ancient, save the video card and RAM. I got the damn thing in 2004 when it was on sale at Wal-Mart, and updated my video card in late 2007 (OK, so maybe it is ancient). My RAM was installed just this January. I believe it has a single-core processor, not a dual like most around here, but I need to run Sapien in Windows 98 compatibility still (no idea why).
If it helps any, I am NOT running CE from my C: drive. I'm running it from a K: portable drive. I move around a lot from computer to computer, so putting CE on a single drive helps me keep my mapping projects and whatnot in one spot. I DO have the registry files pointing to the K drive install, on this computer at least.
