cmon kornman tell us.
MAX9 i wish i had Max8 :(
I've never modeled or animated a level in my life... most I ever did was try to make a Buster Sword. I used Max 8 for it so... there you go.
Can someone tell me why they want version 8 instead of 9? Why prefer the older one? I just want to know because I just started using Max9 and it is already giving me memory errors when I start the program! I want to know which one is better for map making, stable and such.
I only use max 8 because that is what the community mainly uses. As you can see proven above.
Max 8 because it loads faster and more simplistic. Plus max 9 doesnt wierd stuff to my geometry when I'm not looking, and what I mean by not looking I mean changing modifiers. My edges always have strange things going on in that program when ever I used edit mesh, which I use for its simplicity, poly for more complicated tools tho... so I go back and fourth, and max 9 doesn't like this or something idk.. stop asking me questions wah...
3ds max 8.. plus max 9 does something weird with smoothing groups to me also, max 9 hates me :(
oh yea.. read what I said... ; P memory errors are probably coming from max 9 being like 2 times the size of max 8... 3ds max has like more then tripled its size since max 7, and I'm not sure I get why. The only new tool in any of them I ever used was the uv mapping tools they added.
Max 8,
I'm surprised gmax has even 6 percent, I mean, gmax is to 3ds max 8
as a windows 95 is to an xp/vista.
I use max 8, but I really just use it for animations and failed attempts at models.
