Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
So I have taken a break from digital painting to brush up on my actual painting. Unfortunately until I get my hands on one of the school cameras, I have to take pictures of this thing with my webcam, which really fucks up the values making my light grays into whites and my dark grays into blacks. So you will just have to bear with me until then.
Anyways since my highschool is poor I am using acrylics to create a black and white piece then using the tiny bit of oils I have as a color glaze. Hopefully whatever college I attend will let me have access to full oils.
8x12 canvas, acrylic, 2 hours of work so far, no ref.

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
I actually really like it, though it seems like it could almost use a little more mood. Would love to see an update with a splash of color.

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Well my teacher decided to mention to me today out of nowhere that i need another acrylic of same standard as above done by Thursday.
Challenge accepted, about an hour and half of work so far.

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Added on the oil layer to give it color, I can't get a really decent picture because it is still wet and the light from the webcam makes a big reflection.

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
I really like it! I hope you put some colour on your other painting as well. Great stuff!
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Working on this painting, nothing is final yet and the only thing even remotely close to being done is the face.
These pictures are a bit out of date, the forearm has been lengthened as I found it too short, I evened out the earlobes because one was too long, fixed the skull from looking a bit crooked and evened out the nostrils.
Black and white acrylic paint, about 4 hours of work so far.

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Fuck a duck you're actually a no-shit good artist now and a hell of a lot better than I will ever be.
You should be pretty proud of this thread, it shows just how far you've come.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Thank you for the compliment, and I am not proud of how far I have come because I still have miles to go.
Anyways I have a boner for league of legends so I decided to have a go at designing a champion, obvious process shot:

The stone texture on this was a pain in the ass, printer paper with a #2 pencil:

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Holy shit at the stone texture!
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
So I have been very busy and lazy the last few weeks art wise, so I decided to ease back into things by working on the pencil drawing some more.

Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
do you want me to change the thread's title to be Crackers' Scribbles? also looks good man
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
You should put some fixative on that stone drawing. Unless you already did that.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
The title can be changed if you like, it honestly doesnt affect me!
The drawing was framed for a friend so I havnt had time to put fixative on it.
The painting I was previously working on was lost because my computer finally died after 11 years of running strong, so I decided to upgrade in both computer and photoshop.
Now working in cs6 on my new computer and it runs like a dream, since I did not get that league of legends painting done I do not yet have it out of my system so I have began working on a draven vs jarvan scene.
Here is some insight into my workflow, which is very loose and flexible, I dont really use preset color palletes as the whole subject of color theory I find extremely interesting so I prefer to experiment on my own.

edit- Also for those of you that live in the North Texas area, I was accepted into UNT for their art school, taking Drawing and Painting (basically illustration). Starting in August!
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Chains, the evolution of that picture is a load of shit. You literally started with scribbles and are making it into something pretty damn awesome. Great job! :golfclap:
