Re: Battlefield 3 (updated 9/20 - OPEN BETA DATED. Also system requirements)
This computer is still running Windows XP because my brother's been too lazy to buy W7 and won't come back from college for a while.

But your hardware is up to snuff? If it is, then solving your W7 problem shouldn't be too hard.

don't get too confused about clock speed especially with modern CPUs. My friend's Alienware M11x uses a 1.2 Ghz ultra low voltage Core i5 and it still plays games very well at native resolution.
A 3.00 Ghz Pentium 4, for example, will be completely trashed by even a relatively old 1.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo.

there are... other ways. (and you can still easily validate and receive updates with the right steps). Won't go into too much detail here, but it's easy enough. And windows 7 is a huge improvement over windows XP, I'd recommend upgrading in whatever way possible if your hardware is up to it.

Battlefield 3 Veterans get M1911 Pistol

But you don’t have to be a Battlefield Veteran to get the M1911, you can get one by becoming a member of EA Gun Club — you can sign up here for free. The Gun Club page mentions to sign up and “unlock” the M1911, which indicates that the gun might be available as an unlock to everyone, while Gun Club members will get it much earlier.
Rubbish. I hope they have something better for us REAL BF veterans than a pistol. I want a proper M1 Garand or M1 Carbine.
BattlefieldO: We’ve got more Beta news!
A Q&A with BF3 Global Community Manager Daniel Matros (zh1nt0) on a public teamspeak with the German community, and details of the discussion from the EAUK Forums have exposed some new unconfirmed details regarding Battlefield 3 and the release of the BF3 Beta next week on September 29th. We’ve broken down the list from the conversations below into bullets to keep it as short and sweet as possible.

We have all the Battlefield 3 Achievements thanks to Majin Martin93. These have been taken from the Xbox 360 and contain all the single player achievements, including their names and the Mission they take place. At this point we do not know what version of the game these are from, but it’s speculated that this is from a developer version of the game. The screenshots we’re leaked early this morning on Majin Martin93′s
Imgur Gallery. We’ve broken them down and posted the Achievements below.
***SPOILER ALERT***

It's his computer, and it's beefy enough. I know it's a huge step above and all that, but I can't mess with it until he comes back and decides to.

Why not just toss another HDD in or something?
Re: Battlefield 3 (updated 9/20 - OPEN BETA DATED. Also system requirements)

Hmm, seems like there is hope!

From what those achievements say, the campaign sounds like its going to be pretty damn epic.
