I'm guessing it's normal lightning slowed the fuck down.

All the arcs are part of one bolt and when part of it strikes the ground the rest jumps down the same path (shortest).
But I'm no physicist lol.

Exactly this. Lighting always follows the path of least resistance and you can see this bolt traveling through the shortest arc.
