Luckily I can convince him that it's a horrible idea with one simple reason. Also, it's pretty much my server as I set it up and technically paid for jcap's Minecraft subscription :).

I think it's a bad idea, and I'm not an admin.
You guys really can't see why making everything as easy as possible for everyone might be a bad idea? It cheapens the game experience. What's more gratifying: building something with tools and materials you acquired legitimately, or building something with tools and materials you gave yourself in 5 seconds with admin commands?
Hey, I should build an awesome tree farm! Oh wait...that's pointless since I can just /give myself 100 stacks of wood.

Every activity other than building aesthetic structures is rendered pointless, and that last remaining activity is cheapened.
Count me as one person who doesn't want everyone running around /give-ing themselves whatever the hell they want. Stop being lazy and get the stuff yourself.
EDIT: Also, are we supposed to believe that everyone on the server would use all the other admin commands completely responsibly? lol. Kick, ban, kill, tp, etc. Right...
Mostly this, players can't be given the /give command without also giving them kick, ban, tp, kill, and even the ability to stop the server (which would then require a manual server restart).Quote:

While building stuff legitimately IS satisfying, so is building epic stuff... legit or not...
