We fixed ALL of our problems by putting a big-ass ship over them.
Also, if I post a picture of possible flood-brute geometry, will you guys promise to :
A) Not bitch at me if they don't end up making it in
B) Not bitch at me for reusing 99% of the original brute geometry and texturing (necessary if they're going to make it in at all, as tagslots are really cramped on some levels)
C) Understand that if I made drastic changes to the model that it would get more and more likely that they'd need an entirley new skin (which, considering how busy/away dano is, would also jeopardize their inclusion)
?
No bitching. >:U
Will it be textured or just modeled? I'm curious to see how it'd end up being textured really.
I'm not at all happy with this - if I didn't have to deal with keeping it compatible with the original skin I would put far more into it.
My main question is : Given that these would just be a novelty and wouldn't add much to gameplay, and given that I can't do much with the model if I keep the old skin, is this worth trying to get ingame (which may not even be possible) or should we just drop it here? Any additions or changes that could be made to make this less of a cheap halomaps kid edit would be much appreciated.
PLEASE KEEP THE CONDITIONS OF MY LAST LAST POST IN MIND.
I think it looks nice, but not sure what it would do with gameplay considering its just another flood..
I think that's worth keeping. The work's been done on it, it looks good. I like that a lot. Would the animations for this be that same as for the brute? And about how long would it take to experiment with until you are happy with it (approximately)?
It could add variation to things like the Library, as it's another enemy and relieves some monotony of seeing the same thing over again. I like the idea, it looks good and were it to go in-game, it would be a nice touch, so that's a yes from me.
But also; tagspace. If this thing takes up valuable tagspace (and time taken to work on it) that would be better used elsewhere, I'd leave it... Another tremendous statement from Cpt. Obvious :downs:.
Even I'm not cheap enough to use the default brute anims. They would be using a custom set based on a modified version of the flood human animations.
Regarding what you said about the Library : that was my main feeling as well. They probably wouldn't fit into any other level, but for that one time I thought to might be neat.
That Brute flood looks pretty nice. If you could make it less furry, that'd be great, although it's fine if you can't fix it. Is it possible to add a "flood-head" to it? Like Elite combat forms have in their chests, Human combat forms have in their chests or necks, and Brute combat forms have in their chests?
Will the Brute flood behave any differently than other flood, or have any special features to them (like Elite forms have shields)?
The head looks fugly, but then again it's the flood and it's covered in fur. I agree with a lot that Arteen said. Will this have anything different to offer compared to an Elite or human combat form? I mean, would it retain it's power armor or jsut have more health?
Looks generally well done though. The tentacles and shit poking out of it is sick nasty.
They may have shields, but they're otherwise a gimmick. Just a way of mixing up the bore of flood combat. I may make small edits to the skin, which could then include the "flood head" and remove the fur, but I'm not so confident in my abilities to that end :p. The main concern is being able to use the original base textures.
