The one with the sticker looks better.

....Ouch. Still a nice setup.
Yes it's on PCI-E 1.0, since it's more than adequate to handle the amount of information flow. No need to upgrade to PCI-E 2.0 for (maybe) a 1-2 FPS increase. And yes they're both in x16 slots, what are you getting at? x16 is the fastest available anyways.
Also:

As opposed to the old:

I disagree. My brother is holding up a GTS 250 512mb on a PCI-E 1.0 and his performance is severely bottle-necked. Hardly able to run Crysis on High settings without stuttering between 15-30 fps

You can disagree, but you're wrong. His bottleneck is coming from elsewhere because PCI-E 1.X vs PCI-E 2.0 isn't that huge of a jump, and the cards using said slots aren't even using that much bandwidth. I saw a great discussion/explanation on the fact on some website awhile ago when I checked this. I just played Crysis with about 40-45 FPS, I was getting 25-30 before.
Edit - Here you go, I found what I was looking for:

Now - As far as "real" performance increase? That's going to be difficult to pinpoint. Why?? Because the existing standard isn't close to it's limits. If you'll allow me to make up some numbers: Think of it as doubling the speed limit on the highway from 70 to 140. If no cars exist which are powerful enough to go faster than 50 miles an hour, and there are enough lanes to fit the traffic, does it matter???? This is like the situation now. Even multiple devices aren't capable of running faster than current limitations. So increasing the capacity of the pipe isn't going to bring much 'real world' benefit. At least the way things stand at the moment.
Re: (Official Thread) Post your PC pics
so than what else is his problem?... He's got good RAM, the same CPU I do and I'm not getting bottle-necked nearly as much as he is... Whatever, it'd be nice to get an answer, but I don't want to change the subject.
btw, very nice example, whoever made that up is very informative to some people's simplicity. Thank you. +rep

Interesting, we've got the same motherboard so now i know what the limits of my board would be like pretty much.

Yup, I can get one more PCI card in there for whatever, but it's expansion slot on the back is used up by my cold cathode controller... You could also throw a better socket 775 processor into this board, obviously.

What's that? I'm using HIVShack for my image needs? Why yes I am!
The LCD TV is 22", 1080p, hooked up via VGA to my laptop. This will change to DVI->HDMI attached to my desktop as soon as I get a dual-link DVI splitter that works so I can move my other displays onto one output port.
Re: (Official Thread) Post your PC pics
Wow, HIVShack is loading SLOOOOOOOOOOW....
Also, I'm not expert on the matter, and it's probably not a huge deal but... Display on top of a microwave? That can't be great for the displays life expectancy...
