Actually it will only have 1000 stream procs. Everything else you said is right on the dot.

Yeah, misinterpretation on my part...they screwed with the naming scheme in all the blogs. They are calling R870 the dual-chip graphics card, when in fact it simply denotes an HD5870 core, Ã* la HD4870.

I've upgraded my graphics card to a leadtek winfast px8800GTS
Damned thing is bigger in real life than i expected, much bigger.

Yeah, cards are getting pretty long these days. I really marveled at the length of my HD4850 when I got it through the post :O

Is it really that much bigger than say, a 7800GT/X?

One is two slot the other isnt.
It was big enough of a difference to make the GTS hit the backend of the hard drive, the otherside of the base.
