Hi, .50AE. I just box modeled this in about ten minutes. Looks like human hands can grab it, don't you think? This is a demo only. Don't expect to see a finished gun out of it.
So, practice more, get a concept of what the extruder can do, and add verts to manipulate. Make use of orthographic view and the "view along axis" hotkeys, so you can use the move/free command.
Re: Gallery Topic (post your favorite work, or WIP's)
Nice door Tweek. The detail and use of flat space is great, but the themes don't seem to fit with each other. The circles, grooves, and varying angles are all vying for dominance. It honestly looks like at least three companies made different parts of the door.

Press Z, Y, or X to look along the corresponding axes. it helps when you have to use the "free" move command. You can also hold shift and press one of those to look from the negative side of that axis. press O to switch to orthographic for easier manipulation.

Anyway, he offered a lot of more advice than just "Delete it and start over again." You just try to be a know-it-all and try to look smart by actually using 'smart words'. If you can't accept criticism, or comments, then just stop posting to make yourself look good. Also, your models completely suck, although this is a WIP thread you might want to know a little bit about effort. If you can't make a good model out of box modeling within around 3 months, then try another program! Theres more than just 3ds max, Maya, Wave, Milkshape. If you can't find yourself creating anything that is useful in anyway whatsoever, then find a different element of creativity. Timo, for example, is a great photographer! I've never seen his models, but his photography is fantastic! Another example, for those simple minded, is Dano. He is skilled in texturing, but he is also a fairly good modeller. I myself am not the king or queen of modeling, but I do consider myself an OK modeler.
Find a different element of creativity if 3d modeling continues to fail working, which it is at the moment.
EDIT:
Also, another thing, in my time in gaming, teamspeak and the internet I find it mostly little kids, or immature brats, have alt codes in their name.
Again this is a Gallery Topic meaning anything artistic could be posted here, not just 3d models.

Obviously you're too close-minded to try other programs, for example Maya, which I use, has this feature called the view compass which you click on to rapidly change views, it also has some nice little eye candy - the transition is animated. http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4...compassqx8.jpg

Re: Gallery Topic (post your favorite work, or WIP's)
Well, after the whole A-Wing fiasco (If you didn't see it, don't ask), I decided to make a vehicle from Star Wars Episode III. So far, I've made the main cannons for the thing, there are 2 ion cannons on the sides (I put together a real-life plastic model of the thing, you know, the kind where you glue together the parts? I made one of those and I'm looking at it). It's one of my first major models (Besides maps, I'm good at those), last vehicle I modeled I only made wheels and a handlebar for.
Anyway: http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/2...cannonsan5.png
Remember, it's only my first major vehicle model, and I started very early on it, just over half an hour ago, so I don't want the 3D Modeling Police on my tail. ;)
In case you are wondering what vehicle it is, precisely,
The ETA-2 Actis-class light interceptor (A.K.A. Jedi Starfighter or Jedi Interceptor), precursor to the A-Wing, flown mainly by Jedi Pilots because of the sensitive controls and the fact a non-force-sensitive pilot could lose control very easily. Full page on the thing here.
EDIT: Anyone here know how to make it so if a projectile hits a target, it disables the target temporarily, similar to the H3 Plasma Pistol effect?

My summer project. After more than 60% of the clan moved on to Halo 2 in May, and I didn't have a good enough computer, I got bored and started playing FF7 again and got the idea to make a vehicle. After scratching out the idea of making a full sized Highwind, I settled on an easier task. The Tiny Bronco. All that is left to do is to: add propellers, fix any smoothing, fix some faces, skin it and tag it. Here is my creation so far.
Also, does anyone know how to make a vehicle so that it goes forward like a land vehicle and once it reaches a certain speed, it starts to fly? Kinda like a real plane?

Well, how it flies, I still don't get it quite right. It takes off kinda like a helicopter, and it flies like a plane, but that theory is only from the 20 second cutscene when they get the Tiny Bronco, after that, it was used as a boat after it got hit and crashed into the ocean. Also, it may look like it may tip over backwards in flight, but I am pretty sure that most of the weight is concentrated in the front of the plane where the motor and the cockpit is and that the back is made of lightweight material. But thats just what I think :3

Re: Gallery Topic (post your favorite work, or WIP's)
Actually, it does. Look at the elite holding a Plasma Rifle. His finger rests on a slight depression on the part of the Plasma Rifle that looks like a button, near the trigger. It's modeled into your model, but you left out the depression. When fired, the Elite or whoever is firing the weapon simply presses down on the depression, and the weapon is fired.
