im pretty sure thats NOT a normal size for the average game update.
so i played this game again, this time using my mouse's custom button function so i could actually USE its buttons ingame, and im noticing a couple things gameplay wise.
first off, fuck that flashlight entirely. my own god damn team mates blind me with it more than the enemy does, and when the enemy does point it at me all i can do is spray at the light and hope i hit something. i cant even tell if its an ally or not if theres a light in my face.
secondly, the laser sight is much less obnoxious, but it seems like its really not that useful unless youre getting up in the enemy's face and hipfire spraying them to death, which bears a gross resemblance to CoD gameplay. prone does too. i laid prone in grass yesterday and racked up 8 or 9 kills with an iron sight sniper rifle before somebody killed me by firing a rocket at the team mate that was teabagging me. i feel like as time goes on, the game (rush at least) is going to turn into snipers just humping hills. im not even a remotely decent sniper and i got plenty of kills doing that. the hipfire and prone thing combined with what i still believe is overall reduced health just makes the game feel a little too calladooty-ish. i remember somebody saying something about a damage bug, so that might be most of my issue, but at least in bc2 i can take a bullet or two and get behind a wall before i die. in this i dont even know im being shot until im on the ground. that health readout is very excellent though.

Not everyone has multi tera-byte drives in their systems let alone fiber-optic connections.

My point is that these are NOT game updates. They're BETA updates.

I don't have a fiber connection... Again though, completely not my point.
Re: Battlefield 3 (10/3 - Let's not use naughty words now, there could be kids here)
I torrented both the game and the update. Much faster than shit Origin.
Re: Battlefield 3 (10/5 - Five days left for the beta; there's still time to whine!)
there was no update..
also origin maxes out my connection just like steam.

Game updates, beta updates it doesn't matter. There is no usual size for an update. RO2 beta had larger than average but, small updates. RO2 actual has fucking 2.5GB patches every other week. There is no distinction between a beta update and a release update.

And you missed mine.
Not everyone has the connection to download multiple gigs for such a short beta, some don't even have the space to waste on that either.
Most updates I see are in the megabytes range not several gigabytes.
Re: Battlefield 3 (10/5 - Five days left for the beta; there's still time to whine!)
BETA updates are generally larger than their gold-release counterparts. At least that has been my experience with literally every beta I've ever played. It's because they have more time to optimize, compress, and streamline gold updates.
Re: Battlefield 3 (10/5 - Five days left for the beta; there's still time to whine!)
Well, MMOs and FPS games are two very different genres to begin with. MMO updates are expected to be very large, beta or not. FPS games are usually a few hundred MB or less, beta or not. 4GB would be unacceptable as an update whether is it a beta update or a full release update. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. There is no update for BF3 Beta so why is there still discussion on it?
You guys want something to talk about? Talk about this:
Battlefield 3 getting in-game squad management after all

“In short answer form, yes you can browse and join squads through the squad screen and make private squads.”
The new in-game squad management won’t be updated into the beta, but will be available in the final game.
