Your monitors must be the problem...or something else with your setup. I have virtually no delay, or at least an extremely small and unnoticeable one.
Also, your "fake HD" sucks. :realsmug:

lol freelancer.
Great video jcap, it's very well done
Well, SoftTH renders the entire image on one card and then sends the two side images to the second card to be displayed on the side monitors. So there's a bit of a delay right there. Both monitors have the same refresh rates and response time as well.
I think I was getting 60-80 FPS on Halo and 30-40 FPS on LotRO.
Yes I know my fake HD sucks, I'm not rich and can't afford a good camcorder, let alone a $2,000 mail box. I was recording with a Logitech Ultra Vision web cam.
you mean your parents wont buy you one.
You're only driving one display on the primary card? I always ran two off the primary card for performance reasons :I
I'd rather have the side monitors have the same lag and FPS differential, instead of having the center and right the same and the left off by a bit. I wouldn't be able to stand that.
Hopefully Matrox can fix TripleHead2Go to work with 1920x1200 soon, so I can use SLI + 3 monitors.
mhmm
Also you won't be seeing th2go doing 5760x1200, at least not with your GTX 285. Matrox already maxed out the bandwidth the DL-DVI ports offered.
I heard they were trying a setup that used both of the DL-DVI ports on the graphics card which fed to the TH2G box, then to the three monitors. However I'm trying to figure out how they would make the computer see it as "one monitor" if they're using two DL-DVI ports on the same graphics card...
And SLI doesn't work across two ports yet either, so...
Using multiple inputs is nothing new - IBM's T221 used multiple inputs to reach 3840x2400 :-3
Thankfully ATI's got the right idea...
Oh I see, well in that case it may be a possibility.
Depending on who has the best cards when I build a totally new rig, I'll decide then. Though I assume that Nvidia won't be far behind ATI when it comes to multi-monitor support now that they've been thrown into the mud. If I had the option to buy completely new components right now I'd definitely buy ATI series cards for the multi-monitor support, but stick with Intel processing.
However I don't have the money to buy a new motherboard that supports ATI cards in crossfire plus two ATI cards. The system I have I'm pretty much maxed out with supported hardware at the moment.
Now if Matrox uses both DVI ports on the graphics card, and if each port can output the same bandwidth... That means that we could have:
2 x DL-DVI = 6 x 1680 x 1050 (10,080 x 2100) max
Right?
You might want to work on your math :mech:
Running two th2go is already possible if you wanted 6 screens as well. I'd expect nvidia to bring the multi-monitor setup used on their workstation cards to the desktop at a later date, if G300 doesn't already have it.
Go play some source games with your setup, they work great~
I thought Nvidia had multi-monitor over SLI a while ago? That's what made the Big Bang 2 drivers a "big deal".
The "mockup" of the Fermi board that was shown only had a single DVI Port because it was in the Tesla configuration; They can probably easily throw another port or two on there, but getting it to work on the same level as ATI's solution will take quite a bit more architectural work. They'd have to actually put stuff in to handle the extra ports.
Of course, considering the fact that the mockup was faked, no one knows what the final product will actually have.
ATI's cards are probably going to perform close to or better than Fermi while costing a lot less. Unless you plan on doing scientific computer, you'll probably be better served by the ATI card.
Asking for a dog to pee on your expensive computer? Or maybe bench testing something. Also, wheres your case. I see everything but a case.
I have no animals that would dare go near that thing, god it's fucking LOUD without a case muffling it.
case mods
I was thinking about doing that with my PC, but are there any hazards other than knocking it down or having an animal touch it? I have no animals in this house, btw.
How dusty is you work area? If you want to go case less I'd suggest a GOOD tech bench. Not a shitty home made one like mine.
Good tech benches that I've seen:
Antec Skeleton
SunbeamTech Ultra-Tech Station
Check my comp specs, pics later maybe
(Still waiting on my Intel 160 GB SSD to become available for employee discount - couple of weeks, also probably going to return my card and replace it with a 5000 series)
What changed? I have no idea what you had before...
Oh and:
Tools 'n stuff...
WHO CUT INTO MY CASE, NO, BAD!!!!!
Whoever first thought that jumpers were stupid and replaced them with these, has my eternal love.
And now for the abridged version of my painting escapades:
Got to touch up a couple bits tomorrow, then it's ready.
That shits gonna rub off hella bad. Good Luck

Spray paint yep.
I can't tell what you're trying to say, are you saying that the image you posted was spray painted? Or that the image you posted definitely was not spray painted and you're mocking me in a misguided way?
Internet sarcasm has confuzzled my brain.
By the way, is that an LCD in the 5.25" drive bays?
So you spray painted your case black :?
Hope the temperature was 36F~~ or lower when you did that though, and you applied several layers.
@Timo: Yea, and cut out some stuff to improve cable management. It looks A LOT better than it did before, pics are uploading right now, but the entire thing is back together now.
That's like 2.6 degrees C, they recommend painting in 10-32 degrees C.
Edit - Boot test, first image I have that's uploaded of the PC all together in the new case:
Edit Edit - Show pics:
Edit Edit Edit - First start up while back at home:
I'm taking 42MB's of your bandwidth and leaving now!
One of the cleaner setups I've seen. Nice rig.
I showed your post to my friend, Freelancer.
Your (albeit temporary) access to this much cash fills me with a jealous rage.Quote:
[21:42] J. Oliver Judd III: it looks like a fucking particle accelerator
Nice
Thanks all, next on the to-do list is individually sleeve each wire for the main power cable and PCI-E cables. Alas the sleeving kits cost money (god damn, didn't they get the memo about pay-your-own-price?) and I cannot spend money for awhile...
Nice result. What exactly did you bathe the case in before you applied the black spray paint? Something to get rid of the paint that was already on it?
You can probably save a lot of money by just buying some heatshrink, wire mesh and black zip ties separately. If you don't have a heatgun, you can get away with using a blow dryer or soldering iron for the heatshrink.
You could probably get all the stuff you needed for under $10 excluding the hair dryer/solder iron if you look around online. I know that a warehouse that I lived by sold heatshrink for around a dime a foot depending on width and such. Wire mesh wasn't much more, and zip ties can be purchased for cheap in plenty of places.
Not all wire mesh is created equally, therein lies the problem. The stuff that comes on most PSU's isn't great because it's to loose and you can see through it, where as the stuff I plan to get is practically opaque.
I bathed it in water with dish soap, just to get all the dust and metal particles off before painting. There wasn't really a paint on it before, just bare aluminum or whatever the metal was, hence the primer.
ew ew ew ribbon cables
go all sata
Also, your two powerhouse graphics cards are totally overkill and generate unnecessary noise and heat. Swap the second out for another $10 PCI-E card. Then give it to me.
I'm going to get one of those rounded IDE cables eventually, cheaper than buying new drives just for SATA. I'd buy something like this but it would end up being even MORE expensive than just buying new optical drives.
Also no, eventual plan is TripleHead2Go with SLI enabled. Hopefully Nvidia can enable SLI on two DL-DVI ports on the same card, then the rumored TH2G concept that uses both to up the bandwidth for larger resolutions will be worth it.
Edit - Heh, I came up with a decently witty comment from some recent posts here to go along with my case from now on;
"Some say it looks like a particle accelerator, and that it eats diced velociraptors for breakfast... All we know, is it's called The-Tank."
that's a fantastic looking computer, jealousy not withstanding.
To be honest, I would never even consider using the TripleHead2Go box. Even if I had the absolute best graphics cards out there and I could increase performance with Crossfire/SLI, I wouldn't take advantage of it because it would be more of a nuisance than an advantage.
With the box, I'm pretty sure it makes all your monitors appear as one to your desktop. So, Windows would behave as if it was only one screen. If you ever maximize a window, it will go across all monitors, which blows ass. You wouldn't be able to dock stuff to the sides of individual screens. Your taskbar would start all the way on the left monitor and end all the way on the right. Also, every game you play would HAVE to support the device for the screen resolution and the HUD.
It comes with some software that addresses most of those issues jcap, I believe you can "define" the actual monitors within the software so you can choose which monitors you would like certain programs to maximize on. The taskbar issue can also be addressed iirc.
Nah that looks fine all Snaf needs is some blue LEDs and strobe lights in the case
Small gpu's? I've only got one and it's a 4650. :v:
If you want to eliminate the majority of that mess flip your hard drives around so the connections are facing the front of your case, route the cables behind the hard drive cage. Loop the fan wires up and behind the fans themselves if you've got the cable length and route as much as you can behind the motherboard tray.
Old cables:
Behind the scenes:
Is that a mid or full tower? Your GPUs are coming awfully close to your HDD enclosures.
Mid tower, the distance doesn't matter as long as it fits.
My HDD bays were sideways, but the power connectors were rear mount
Oh I see, hopefully there won't be any rear connecting cables in my future, because with the fan I strapped onto the HDD cage I'd be screwed.
i was only able to make it slightly less retarded acause of my case sucks :saddowns:
Burn it
Yeah routing cables doesn't really do much when they're all small and you have 10 120mm fans, but whatever if you like how it looks...

30 seconds hth
I just like hiding the cables because it's aesthetically pleasing.
Pics this weekend. (specs already in my specs thing)
I cleaned all my cables yesterday and managed to break a piece on my motherboard. I wonder if it was all worth it. :(
You're not supposed to rip the audio ports off of your motherboard to make things fit better.
hth~
Yeah, that snapping noise means it's locked in place, like processor sockets right?
Just put the motherboard with the broken peice in place inside of an oven and heat to 500 degrees for 40 mins.
Cleaned up my cables yet again yesterday. I've got a lot of power cables running, but at least i have round IDE cable. Got as much shit tucked behind the mobo tray as i could.
post some pics and I will judge you as if i were simon cowel
not sure if want.

4 hdd's, 1 dvd, 1 multicard reader. too many damn cables. i was able to get ide2 and the 24 pin power connector behind the tray, as well as all the fan cables. couldn't find my electrical tape to wrap the exaust fan cables though.
bottom mount psu would make this so much easier to deal with :ugh:
You sure you did any cable management? :ugh:
not really sure how else i could've gone about this :saddowns:
oh god damnit, i think my cables are long enough to go behind the tray and out to the power connections. shit.
FUCK.
well the bottom mounted psu cases does seem to make it a little bit eaiser, one of the reason i opted for antec 300. all your hdd's don't make it easy either.
This is why I loathe buying a new power supply. You gotta rewire everything and then spend like hours after that to make sure it doesn't impede airflow.
That's a lot better, only thing I can recommend to make the HDD area less of a mess is to flip them around so the connectors are facing the front of the case. Do you have a gap between your hard drive cage and the back of your case, if you do then you can easily run the cables back there and then connect them to the newly forward facing connectors. That would hide most of your "mess".
And I'd recommend moving your motherboard 4/8pin auxiliary power cable above your HSF. That way it has less distance to travel and you might be able to tuck the excess cord behind the motherboard tray.
This is the auxiliary cable I'm talking about:
Not much chance of my tucking cables behind the motherboard tray in this case, I guess...
The drive bays back right up to the side of the tray, so the only access behind it is below the hard drive section. Though, this case doesn't have any access to air from the front, just the holes in the side panel, and most of the cables are badly tucked underneath the DVD drive. My TV Tuner does slightly go over the fan for the GPU, but it idled at 40C before I installed the TV Tuner and it still idles at 40C.
Admittedly, I'm a noob; what's this black thingy I just noticed at the back of my case? Is it optical out for audio?
Flip your HDD around, I'm serious people it's an awesome way to hide cables.
Yes that's an optical audio port, most likely an out because not many PC's have optical in. Using light to transfer sound, what an awesome oxymoron.
That'd be nice, since my computer has analog connectors for 7.1 out, but my PS3 only has analog connectors for stereo out, but it has an optical out. It'd be nice to run an optical from the PS3 to the PC and then use it to run the surround that way. Oh well.
"Listen! Do you smell something?"
I should be able to do that, considering the primary and secondary drives are on ide1, but ide2 has the tertiary drive and the dvd drive, so i won't be able to flip that one around, but i guess it's ok, being a 36 inch cable i can tuck it easily and hide most of it. Quaternary hdd, I don't know about, considering the length of my sata cable, and depending on whether or not the sata power is sharing any connection with anything else >>.
I know my modular PSU has a dedicated SATA connector, all four of my HDD's are connected to one power cable.
Just tried it, cage doesn't have enough room, not to mention, the IDE connectors would be constricting air flow a lot more. Not only that, if I move the 4 pin's wire, it lays across the heatpipes.
:mech:
That is one awesome gaming setup, there. I'm mostly just jealous 'cause the only screen I have with an HDMI connection is my 22" monitor that's shared between my computer and PS3. I'd love to have a dedicated 1080p display, at least 30", for the PS3. Multiple monitors for the computer would be nice, too.
Is that a large dorm room?
nope, this is my parents house, my room.
Nice dorm man!
Thanks! :realsmug:
looks like a dorm room. meh
