That guy just relisted this. I forgot to mention $499.95 without shipping, sales tax is $41.25 but had free shipping. So basically if you didn't have a C&R a FFL fee would be oh $30-$50 so basically your looking close to $600 if it goes to a FFL.
Good thing nobody bought it, gotta be crazy to pay that much. Even then if I can't find anything at the gun show next week then I will probably pick up a M38 if my friend can get me a discount.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
$600 is absurd O_O it is a great looking gun, matching numbers, 1943. If the bore is smooth and shiny that would have been a great gun. Stock looks a little worn but it shows the tender love of war :p I just can't believe it'd come out to be that much in the end, even with shipping and transfer fees
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
Way, way too much for what it is. Maybe it it came with a shitload of accessories, a 880 case of ammo, and like, 6 preserved hearts of German soldiers. But like it is, no fucking way.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
Way too much for what it is. He hasn't even mentioned counterboring or lack thereof, which isn't an enormous issue on a 91/30 (29" barrel, lol) but is a Pretty Big Thing on an M38. I'd assume it's an Izhevsk since he mentioned the Soviet crest, if people are going to gouge you for a Mosin it's usually a Tula unless it's something Izhevsk didn't produce much of. I can't remember figures offhand but I don't think M38s were one of those things.
Heads-up for anyone with an ex-sniper (Peng) - the folks over at Gunboards have a couple databases going of 91/30 sniper/ex-sniper serials and scope serials, for verification and matching purposes. It is a very, very long shot, but it's worth posting there in case someone has one of your original parts (including scopes, for Izhevsk rifles). Found a couple guys within the same block as my rifle, one is about 200 rifles off - also found a PU that's fairly close to mine.
They have threads for other stuff like PSLs as well. Pretty neat site, although they do get a bit crotchety and some of the posters are just terrible.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
They have an awesome thread about reuniting magazines with serial numbered PSLs.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
The M38 racks at the gun shop dont have counter-bored bores, or I think the majority. Still I'm waiting on the next gun show....if nothing shows up I'll head over with my friend to see if I can get a discount, comes with all standard accessories except bayonet (obviously) but if I see something like a rare date on a M38 and my friend cant get a discount I'll buy it. I did spot a Tula 1940 M38 with brass caps but it didn't last long.
And in a month I'll be retrieving my first 91/30 after it was sitting in Florida with my grandparents. So if planned right 3 Mosin Nagants, if not then 2 MN's and maybe a SKS or something else.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
You should branch out and buy some non Mosins lol.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
Mosins are a disease I tell you, cheap and fun to shot...well cheap in most variants, not some. The only reason why I have the one I have now is because my friend was going to butcher the shit out of it, wasn't gonna let that happen.
If I wanted to I could get a Romanian WASR 10/63 since I want a AK platform over a AR platform. It could be my choice but I'm after other things atm.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
I really want to go to a pawn shop and pick up a pair of butchered Mosins for less than one nice one costs. Would be pretty sweet.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
They're not all that fun to shoot. They're just cheap, haha.
