They look like they could make a decent "base coat" if you will. They just lack any good shape or detail. A tablet is kinda needed for the rest IMO

Here's an M1897 Trench Gun that I'm currently working on, which, in my personal opinion, is horrible at the moment. The stock is pissing me off to no end, and so is everything else. I might consider starting over. Why am I posting it? I need some pointers, that's why. If I do start over, I want to know exactly how I'm doing it, and what primitive I'm going to begin with, as well as some general knowledge on how exactly to carry out the shaping process so that the stock doesn't look like shit.

The Bases are nearly done, but I thought it might be neat to make a completely different layout instead, except using the same bases. Thoughts? I would also consider porting to CE as well. It's just that we've mostly all played h3 by now and Valhalla might not be all that special, while a custom map would be a better idea.

Something neat and open like Valhalla/BG/Standoff. The bases are more suited for that kind of terrain in more ways than just design.
For once I feel completely neutral. I'll leave it to others to case their opinions, cause I think both options are equally good.

How about adding to the bases downwards a bit? Add multiple levels built vertically downwards. Possibly add some teleporters in there to tele near the downed pelican and the little camp. And if ya wanna make the bases more like standoff, build them into the canyon walls, and have the one somewhat into the water. Im sure you could make some glass areas and have some fish scenery to simulate being underwater.
Talk to me about layout if you want to - I have some pretty innovative ideas that might be helpful.
Make something A-symetrical, involving swaps (because there awesome and not used nearly enough).

i did some of the bodyparts, which ill be using as a base to shape my high res panels onto, and will most likely use that undetailed thing as my low-res.

hey, i'm just following concept, and a high res needs stuff to project onto a normalmap, or you might as well not have one at all. making tonnes of little "üseless" details is more or less the whole point of it.

mini tutorial:
make box, delete half of it.
apply symmetry, put the mirror in the middle, where you cut it in half along the seam.
go back down to editable poly in your modifier stack.
hit the "show end result" button.
done.

IIRC, firedragon posted a starship model he made that had lots of little plates on it. He'd shown it to some game dev who'd told him it was the exact sort of thing that prospective employers would love and he posted it here for our thoughts.
Tweek then stated that he thought lots of little plates on a flat model did not equate to detail.
Or something along those lines, I CBF to find it.
oh that, yeah that was a particular style he followed that i didn't really like.
