I know about some parts but basically this is my first serious attempt at modeling a level.
It's going to be a 4 section map, each section roughly 2x the size of that.
There will be 3 rooms, a side room and the room above you see basically mirrored to the other side. The two rooms will be divided by up-and down bars small enough for bullets to get through but not people. The dividing bars will stop eventually and then an open top for grenades to get through.
The third room will be the way you get to the other side in CTF levels.
I know it has errors and all but it's still a WIP not quite in need of it's own thread. I'm mainly looking for things which I could add to this idea.

I think so. Still missing something though.
Sorry about that, I couldn't tell if it was to steep or not from the render.

Yeah, just cant put my finger on what it is though. Maybe Ill throw some human barricades on the top or something.

Only the two rounded areas look salvageable. Honestly, the rest looks just bad.

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
That gun would be pretty awkward to hold the way the thumb would be. Plus the stock is so curved as to be uncomfortable upon firing, and not tall enough either. There is no point to the muzzle brake holes just in front of the grip. That would deprive the bullet of critical propulsion. The trigger guard is too small for the finger to be inside it without touching the trigger. Should be room for at least two finger widths in front of the trigger. This gun has a front sight, but no rear sight, and the lack of a rail on top indicates that the scope mount is a permanent fixture. Thus there is no use for a front sight.
Furthermore, this gun has no bolt.
As far as the art quality is concerned, you've got texture there, but it's fairly fuzzy, and the shading on the scope gives no indication of roundness. That and there are a few unnecessary brush strokes that don't define much of anything, such as the two on the lower part of the rear grip.
Overall, it's a bit of a mess. At least it looks like a gun and the painting is decent-ish.
+2 for effort.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Actually the one thing I disagree with are the sights. I've seen a few people mount scopes and leave the front sights on out of sheer laziness.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Was a speed painting, was not meant to be accurate, and I painted it off of my daisy bb gun, was very bored.

Something I'm working on for a bio assignment...
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Amazingly done. Better than in my Bio book.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Things I can still name in that picture from my Freshman bio class:
Ribosomes
RNA
Nucleus
Cell membrane
Golgi apparatus
Vacuole
and nothing else :|
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
I think I see a mitochondria or w/e hell the red thing is.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
There's no vacuoles there exam, just some lysosomes and vesicles. Vacuoles are larger, and in a plant cell, very large. The mitochondrion is the orange one, the red/pink is the golgi.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Well I went home for the weekend and happened to come across on my computer, an old model I was working on for shits and giggles.
http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/9...glewip6lt6.jpg
http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/5...idewip1mi1.jpg
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/7645/partswipcx3.jpg
All that's really missing is the magazine and a few internal parts, so when I get a chance I'll probably finish up and release it. It's only like 4,000 tris so it's quite capable of going in game.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Then all the CS players who need to compensate for something can use it and think it's actually a good combat pistol http://sa.tweek.us/emots/images/emot-laugh.gif

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
MWLL CL_Puma, the captains wheel has been removed since it was ugly. Not my model/ texture.

-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
The wasp and the jungle versions are pretty cool.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Christ... Puma... *comes*... Props to whoever did do it. I loved the Mech3 incarnation of it, and the Mech3 skins bring me back... makes me want to start playing it again.
The skin(s) look(s) a bit dull though - could use more contrast... or saturation... but that's just me, and some metallic shine would mask that anyhow.

Two point perspective project.
http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...1013082016.jpg
My art class is a bunch of whiners. "This is soooooo haaaaaard i hate perspectiiiiiiive!"
So I pick the most complicated object in the classroom just to piss them off :v:
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Nice, I'm doing two point but in terms of architectural drawings aka, insides of a studio/workshop space that we had to create and design. Good job, looks really good.
e: lol cant rep u .....
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Oh you rebel, you. Perspective is easy (then again, I've done a fuckton of life drawing and it's pretty much all I work with, doing photography and all), extreme perspectives however can be a bit confusing, but still doable.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Show them up next time and do some 3-point perspective. They'll be all like "wtf you can't do that" and you'll be all like "bitch yes I can just watch me".
Nice computer cabinet by the way.

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Looks like you abused sponge.
Lower the contrast and add some highlights and scratches.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Alright, first of all even out the lighting. Splotches everywhere, they really don't look good on weapons. Second, don't just up the contrast and do nothing else - by adding contrast, I mean add some proper lighting as well.

H3 Cortana biped...
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...Corntana-1.jpg
I already know about the bad smoothing. It took 30 minutes to render this and it's 5AM.
Oh, and I think her ass is too big, so I might make it smaller.
EDIT: 7,287 polygons. I'll get a tri count later.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Yeah, make her ass smaller. I don't like big asses ;)
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
hair looks fuxed, and maybe to short

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Meh... low poly asian looking purple h1 Cortana ftw.
Fanservice Cortana ftl.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
I always thought she looked best in H1
vOv
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
I liked the H1 version, but the model for it was :(. I particularly like the blue-ish color that she has in H3 though.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Yeah. Its alot harder to see her in h3 with all the funky effects on her tho.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
I always liked the halo 2 cortana with the longer hair and more slender figure. In halo 3 she wasn't very proportionate. Her boobs were massive to say the least.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
You already have your own thread for this, so there's really no need for it to be posted here...
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
h1 cortana IS best.
@ the one here, Her hair is fucked up, and her nose is big atm.
And the "her boobs getting bigger" conspiracy? Software updates to make her easier to pay attention to.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
H3 cortana was the best designed imo. HDoan, don't try to call out something you don't know what it is.

h2 and h1 cortana I can't decide between. h3 is fail

What's wrong with her hair exactly? Oh, and you're right about the nose. Just a bit too big.

Also, I think he modeled the hair so it could be textured properly. If I'm right then when the model is finished the hair wont appear to be in that shape.

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
What is up with her ankles? It looks as if her foot is directly attached to her shin. Armpits, it's as if you've extruded them inwards, sharp outlines.. makes no sense. Hair - looks as if it's just been placed on top of her head, not growing out of it.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Holy cow, you know, for some reason it never occurred to me that fisheye perspective like that formed hyperbolic arcs like that. That's worth knowing.

Maybe render her from different angles? something about her lips bothers me, but I can't tell from this angle.

Nice looking Scarab Hunter. It's too bad I have no respect for the Halo 3 scarab at all because of how fucking weak it was.
Direct main cannon hit can't kill my warthog on Legendary? pfft.
