They didn't add rails onto it, per se. It's still a real AK, but it has a dovetail side mount with the rail system attached, so it is still real-world correct. I imagine they did that so when you find an attachment in the game you can use it with every gun without them having to pull magic out of their asses.

Yes it is a correct accessory, I'm just saying I don't like it. Adding scopes to AKs is like a Katana with a basket handguard. Its just so unnecessary.

Also GOWs influence is unbelievable with these new games cover attachment systems. Its really wild to see how much people enjoyed that.

FarCry 3 is basically Crysis without aliens and with more insanity. Almost literally.

Also, Rainbow Six: Vegas had a cover mechanic at the same time Gears of War did. Red Orchestra's has nothing to do with GoW and everything to do with them thinking logically. I'd wager that the Mass Effect 2 and 3 are the only games really riffing on Gears of War because their mechanic is exactly the same except for being less functional and more glitchy.

I think you are understating the popularity of Gears though. When it came out, that was almost revolutionary, even though a small handful of games had done that on PS2 beforehand.

No, I mean how it was released as an XBox title. What it started out as is irrelevant to how it was released; Microsoft obviously doesn't give a shit, since it was pretty much the game that made the XBox as popular of a system as it is today.

Gears more or less legitimized the 360 at the time. Gears 2 is WAY better IMO though. Can't wait for Gears 3.

And Korn's right. Halo was the title on Xbox that made Xbox incredibly popular. HPC didn't do that for the PC platform. If it's any consolation, HPC's anniversary isn't until 2013, so there's still a chance they could release an HPCA.
