Torrents aren't that bad if you can get seeders. Most of the time people just download then cancel the seeding. I'm one of those rare seeders. But for a mod like this? Nah Torrents are a bad idea.
I tried utorrent for 5 minutes before. Mcafee then decided to take up 50% of my CPU's proccessing. I don't think Mcafee likes utorrent, or bitcomet for that matter. Theres no way I can have Mcafee and one of those downloaders installed sponutanuously, so I would rather have a crappy protection software than a crappy downloader.
Eh? My torrent application runs fine with Mcafee in the background......
Then again I don't like Utorrent or Bitcomet, I use Azures........
I don't like uTorrent either.;) I'm not going to get any torrent programs.
I guess downloading SPV2 by torrent is out of the question...though if everyone in the team seeded, along with loyal fans (I know I would seed for them), the download would be amazingly fast, unless we were using 56k's.
I have no idea what a torrent is? Can someone please explain for those who are lost.
Its basically a file sharing network.
Simply put its comprised of Downloaders, Seeders, and Leechers
To put its simply, the downloaders get the file off seeders. Seeders are people who have the full file and are currently sharing it to other downloaders. Downloaders also share to other people with what they have but other people don't. Basically people are supposed to seed after they get the file but some don't. These people are called Leechers. They basically download the file just stop the torrent and don't share the file. Leechers hurt the network and if there are enough Leechers and not enough Seeders the torrent dies.
So basically, my question was whether the CMT team would like to make a torrent available as an option (but not a required option). If everyone on the team seeded, and maybe some non team members who just wanna help, then the download would be quite fast.
I understand malware scanners and slower connections will pose problems, therefore if this option becomes available, it should not be mandatory.
I have no problem with a torrent. If we do it, anyone who volenteers to be a seeder will probably get the maps before other people.
