Found some pretty sweet info found in the Beta's code : http://www.360zone.net/halo-reach/18....html#post3572
Campaign maker? Seems pretty feasible to me, since I remember it being said in the first ViDoc that the AI wasn't going to be scripted whatsoever. The Shield Generator armor ability sounds quite a bit like a bubble shield to me.Quote:
Take your party to combat and objective-based missions that you select and design. Your rules, your maps, your game.
Also, Golf, Soccer and Bumper Cars gametypes? Sounds pretty interesting to me :P
What time EST does the beta come out?
They don't have a specific time. "Early morning PDT" is the closest we have. I'm estimating 4 or 5am EST, maximum 9am. They have to make sure all the tech is ready before opening the floodgates. They also said they'd put up a large announcement about it as soon as it is running.
Bungie.net says LATE morning... so im assuming they go in at 9am as usual sit around have some coffee, wake up... sort their tech out and it'l all be ready for like 11am-12... :@
Oh, oops. Thought it said early. Thanks for catching that.
I really hope we have some equipment-like AAs. I'll miss bubble shields, power drains, and grav lifts from Halo 3. I always liked using power drains for their anti-vehicle abilities, but it seems that the new grenade launcher will retain some of that ability, so that's nice. The super-jump AA seems like it will replace the grav lift, and work in maps where full jetpack ability isn't desired. If Shield Generator creates a bubble shield (and it could be balanced by a long refresh timer), then I won't mind the loss of equipment.
I won't miss the bubble shield, because they killed it's awesomeness by making it stationary in Halo 3. I liked the version that rolled around better.
Play these two videos at the same time. Start the second around 25 seconds into the first
I don't think it's going to be a campaign maker. Probably something along the lines of creating truly customisable gametypes, as in, decide objectives, create phases and loadouts. I can imagine they're going to make Forge more powerful for this purpose, seeing what they learnt from Halo 3; that players want to design their own map designs and not just edit existing maps. Perhaps those Forge specific maps will allow more streamlined tools for creating map layouts this time.
