I take it back...these sounds suck.
What have they done to the shotgun?
Only interesting weapon is that Gauss Rifle.

Video removed. :/
I came.
DUBSTEP WUB WUB WUB WUB!
Seriously WTF 343.
On an related note, the rail gun is pretty cool.
"SAW".
it has finally happened :aaaaa:
These are all the same sounds we have been hearing for a while if not months, with the exception of the rocket, shotty, SAW, and gauss.
Wish they had given a cleaner recording of the sounds themselves, instead of clips from games, but still they are all quite interesting, excluding the SAW, sounds kind of like an H1 AR xP
It generally sounds like they are going for something more mechanical with the UNSC weapons, very much evident in the shotgun, AR, Sniper, DMR and even in the Rockets to some degree.
Couldn't hear a single sound over the fucking music...
The HWU has a link to the video without the dub step music and with the actual weapon sounds
Whatd they mix up the new fuel rod sounds with the rocket launchers?
Oh, sweet! I like what I hear :realsmug:
I like the sounds. They're more realistic now, but still very much grounded in the Haloverse.
Rocket doesn't sound THAT much like the Fuel Rod. Sounds more like the Rockets from Metroid Prime Hunters.
I like the clicky noises. It's 500+ years into the future, so if no Gunpowder and more "pew pew" than they can claim artistic freedom.
That futuristic SAW looks like something out of Unreal Tournament with its simplistic recoil animations.
This game just looks like a clusterfuck of way too much shit
Our weapons sound dull MAKE THEM SOUND LIKE THEY ARE ABOUT TO FALL APART WITH EACH SHOT!
Yeah SAW that looks like fun lets spray endless laser bullets at people until they fall over dead.
Railgun is cool, but they should have had it be 'the sniper'. As it is now it's just a shitty spartan laser.
I like how Frankie himself said he doesn't know yet how to use the pistol. Symptom of content overload? I think yes.
You guys are too :mech:.
Arguably, a different atmosphere produces a different sound...but a rocket launcher shouldn't pew pew :v:
The rockets are launched by air pressure I guess
I know this is kinda late but...Oh hey look the guys at Rooster Teeth got to do an AchievementHorsePigPi at RTX:

Not much is really shown aside from how player traits are going to be really cool and the Banshee still looks like Reach.
I'm not sure how I like almost every Forge object being a re-skin of the ones from Reach. It'll make life a lot easier to remake a few of my old maps though.
BTW, every little UV error in the original Forge World is burned into my retinas. I will bitch like there is no tomorrow if I find just one in the new version.

I wasn't joking. At this rate, they'll owe ME cake. Enough for seconds. :v:
Dude. We should totally mail them cake.
...if the game doesn't severely disappoint me. Which seeing as the you-know-whats what-the-fuck-else-does-ODX-ever-bitch-about-in-video-games, they probably won't get their cake.
if you mail them cake make sure it has Ex-lax
Yes it is, but there will still be grenades on the map. I can't say I'm particularly pleased about this addition (which most likely won't be in the Classic Playlists), but if it forces people to use their grenades in a smart way instead of spamming them like they did in Reach, I'm not complaining.
Hmm, that is true, as long as there are a fair number of grenades on the map it shouldn't mess with things too much. I feel like with a few exceptions I usually pick grenades up from the map anyway instead of stealing them off players. If anything, that makes map balance even more important, I hope their map population team is good at what they do.
It doesn't bother me much. Grenades have been a very bitter sweet part of Multiplayer. Though at the right times they are great, half of the time you die or end up dying from grenade spam.
You do have a point DH, grenade spamming has always been a bit of an issue in Halo, especially when it is so simple to use them. Cutting down on the number of grenades you pick up at any given time could help to eliminate that particular problem, and as long as there are enough on the map to pick up, it should balance out quite nicely.
Someone is eventually going to turn it into the XBOMB 3000.
BRB, packing ANFO into my old 360 Arcade.
Let's see how you all react to this : http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/08/1...player-forever
That doesn't actually sound that bad. None of them are game-breaking, and I like the ability to slowly regenerate health for vehicles. I am a little scared of the concept of an Operator driving a tank, no way to EMP them.
I was about to say that this sounded like Fishstick perks. I decided to read through the whole article.
It sounds like Fishstick perks.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing, if implemented properly. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
I like that they suggest armour from previous games will be returning. I find the new armour absolutely repulsive.
Here's hoping Mark V is decent.
I'm betting the specializations are DLC'able. Hopefully, they exist outside of the map files.
I'm...not liking this. Aside from making the game all the more ridiculously complex, now I'm going to be screaming at my TV more because of the bullshit.
Sigh, more crap thrown into the ring for stupid "player customization" that even further offsets the balance of the game. Welcome to modern gaming :[
Yeah, one of the great things about past Halo games was the ability to just 'jump in and play'. This is a new breed of Halo, trying to compete with the other 'major' FPSes.
Don't be so :mech: ODX. There is also a lot of positive opportunity for this. Maybe if all you play is classic Halo, then you'd be kind of pissed with this, but after playing a lot of other games I'm kind of glad to see more personalization outside the cosmetic models. I love FPS games with complexity because they become both a puzzle and a shooter in one.
I'm betting a month into Halo 4 I will send Frankie a well thought out and constructed email detailing mistakes they made and improvements that could be done in preparation for Halo 5. He'll probably reply five hours later with, "Let me talk with everyone else in the studio to see what the general consensus is." And then never respond after that.
That's exactly what he did when I asked them to release Halo 3 tags to the CE community. It was laughable.
Bad animations = terrible experience for me. Can't stare at ugly all the time, the only decently animated thing is the DMR...and that's from Reach.
And I'm mad because I loved the arena gameplay of Halo and how simple yet great it was. Now it's just getting annoying how different and complex everything's becoming.
I guess it really does come at a matter of opinion here. Honestly, the animations don't bother me much, nothing like what we saw in HA10 with that Assault Rifle shit rig. I'm not a pro animator, so I probably couldn't find the obnoxious minor details. However, we both know I'm mainly in the gameplay and story side of things, so like I said it's merely a matter of opinion. But I totally get what you mean. If there's a detail in the game that constantly stares me in the face, especially when it's a detail about an asset I like, then the game simply becomes unplayable. It's sad to be honest.
Weapon skins.
http://www.halodestiny.net/images/ne...kins_Armes.jpg
The diarrhea-yellow yellow stripe pales in comparison to what I see in the middle. :ohdear:
I'll be honest, those are pretty damn fugly. I'm glad we can choose the regular skins over these...things...
They've also got the GUNGNIR helm (damn front-facing view and annoying armor skin aside), which I thought looked cool in Reach because of its menacing, faceless appearance. You know they'll have to add ODST, which should remain largely unaltered, and Mark V should be making a comeback as well, but how that looks is a mystery.
Fake Edit: CIO helm looks like Sam Fisher. D:
Fake Edit 2: Also, Oceanic helm might be a Big Daddy?
More pics and details in this week's Bulletin : https://halo.xbox.com/blogs/Headline...tin-81512.aspx
I'm so horribly confused now.
Did 343i make Halo microtransaction based or something?
What? No, why do you say that?
Those weapon skins are fugly. Very fugly. Do not want.
Those permutations on the other hand look pretty damn cool.
Agreed. The only skin which is not bad is the Carbine's. I love how a lot of helmets are quite different from the usual whole-face visor thing we've had in the past.
Thankfully this isn't CoD, otherwise I'd agree with you. I'll school any bastard with just an AR and a Carbine. Unless the perk grants them infinite ammo, bottomless clip, and a rocket launcher from the start, I don't think I'll have a problem fighting anyone in this game.
^^Well I was gonna dual pistols with Hard Light Shield, but that works too I suppose.
Oh, I meant that I'd be using them as each of my weapons, because screw using real weapons!
Oh god. Why is this happening?
Am I the only one here that's going to whore the railgun+promethean weapons like a mofo?
I want to play with the Railgun. I think it's going to be cool. I'm actually looking forward to the game. I don't care much for the art style on some stuff. But over all, the game itself looks kinda fun to play.
Guys... the Specializations are just "carrers" that we go through, which at the end (at level 10 of that specific specialization) give us a Tactical Package or Support Mod, which are two things we all already knew about. They're not a third "perk" to add to the first two.
No, that's not how it works. Those of us buying the Limited Edition get to select any Specialization once we reached level 50, while those with the Standard Edition only get the choice between Wetworks and Pioneer at first. The ability to play through new specializations will unlock in the weeks following the game's release. But everybody will have access to everything within a short period of time. It's like they're giving free power weapon loadouts to people who pay more money.
Honestly people, you guys are freaking out over something which we already knew about. They didn't announce anything new with the specializations asides from a new way to unlock armour, skins and armour mods.
Those skins look like vomit.
Also, I can't put my finger on it, but something about the Spartans Boots....REALLY turns me off.
Is it just me or are we seeing more stuff from the campaign here than ever before? And I love the look of those large environments, hope it delivers what it promises.
:woop:
Well, now we know why the weapons sounds like shit. They actually went and recorded live weapons and modified them. Live weapons should only be used as a basis for understanding why they sound as they do >_<. Why do they think hollywood hollywoods up guns in movies?
Other than that, feeling a bit better about the music oddly enough. Still think this will be a game I rent/borrow for a weekend to see how fucked the established universe is and wait for it to go down to 20 bucks before I buy.
I still think the weapons sound good, just saying.
But yeah, the music sounds pretty damn amazing if you ask me, Neil is definitely living up the Marty's music from the first trilogy.
If there's anything I was excited for with this game, it was the story.
And holy shit, I am excited for the story. The emotion in the music is heart-wrenching as always, and I don't even know what scenes it'll pertain to yet. And it sounds Halo, it has a unique flair to it.
The dude yelling at the Master Chief. HOLY SHIT. I really do think this is going to be cool. Multiplayer might be interesting, but I'm really looking forward to what 343 does with the story.
Fake Edit: I realize now, that I love Halo 4 so much more when there isn't some half-wit from 343i talking over the top of it.
Not really true. The weapons in the Battlefield series are recorded from real ones and then modified, and Battlefield is pretty much the golden standard for in-game audio, especially guns.
No, I think it really just boils down to their modifications being in arguably bad taste.
The music is pretty nifty. I can hear a twinge of the Reach theme, but used in a more refined way. Personally, I think this will be the next best Halo soundtrack after Halo 1 and ODST.
As for the story, it will be interesting within the game, but for me it's ultimately ruined because it runs with that crap Whatshisface has been writing.
Well I've never personally like any Halo story (HERESY!!), so this should still be great for me.
Pre-ordered today.
That might be the only reason why I'll cringe at the story, given it deviates too far from the Terminals we saw in Halo 3. If it stays connected to those Terminals, I'll be okay with whatever wacky shit they put in there since the Terminals are one of the last pieces of legitimate canon before the bad novels started being written. If there's some Glasslands references, I'd be alright with those too.
I feel like that music isn't what Halo is. There's something about it that doesn't feel right. Halo 1 through Reach all had more depth to the orchestral sound. It's still a bit early to be judging the music, but my first impression is that it's not what people will be hoping for. It feels like too much of a departure from Marty and Michael's stuff.
I'm gonna try to keep an open mind for the story. I'm not really excited for multiplayer. It just seems like it'll be worse than Reaches since they're throwing MORE perks. The music though I like so far, and the gun sounds. Except fir the scatter shot. That's just blegh
I think you should hold a more open mind towards Multiplayer then. It takes a lot from modern FPS games, but I have faith that 343i will make it into something nice. On aesthetic assets they lack a bit of direction (skin designs = wtf), but gameplay is looking very intriguing, complex, and solid. I just have a feeling that this game will end up being a lot better than many of the :mech: Halo fans think it will be.
Nobody gonna mention chief getting in the Mech?
Okay then :saddowns:
Oh, and;

:raise:
Everybody who has played the game at RTX and Gamescon has said that the game plays amazingly, feels like Halo should, and is a definite step up from Reach in every way.
I'm excited for the multiplayer, and I know I'm going to spend a hell of a lot of time playing it, just like I did in every past Halo game, including Reach.
Yo dawg I heard you like cyborgs so we put a cyborg in another cyborg.
