my dad just got a 4x32 Trijicon ACOG and rmr for his LAR-15
Hopefully sometime this week we'll sight it in with pics
will do, gunna break it down and give it a good thorough cleaning and oil it up before taking it out. also bore is shiny and deep as can be. love it
Speaking of, mine was full of shit last time I went to shoot it and I'm completely befuddled as to why. I cleaned the shit out of it and gave it a light (but adequate) oiling before storing it for about two weeks in a safe inside. I went to shoot it and then had to clean it thoroughly (as in, went through at least 20 patches) because it looked like the bore was full of black hairy shit. At first I was crapping myself thinking it'd somehow rusted over, but upon actually getting it out it seems not to have been rust and it also seems to have done no visible damage to the rifling, but I still have no idea what did it. I wasn't shooting corrosive ammo and dad's rifles had the same issue, first time I've seen it happen.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was somehow my fault, but I cleaned all three rifles the way we were instructed at basic and I did a fucking thorough as shit job of it. Any ideas?
e/ Also Peng you totally missed out on the Extra Special Collectors' Edition Springfield Armory M1. A few guys on TFR who have them got theirs from a batch where someone fucked up the typeset for the receiver stampings, so they proudly declare themselves to be

those M1's actually sound hilarious. as for the crap, first of all I'd suggest getting a bore snake. I've used them myself and they are phenomenal. After a couple of tugs through the bore its clean and shiny as can be. What could be causing might be something inside the safe. Any collection of dust or dirt from other guns lying around, I had an old case that I kept my shotgun in and I realized that the fabric from the case had gotten inside the entire action and barrel. Promptly threw that away. So check your safe and what kind of solvent are you using?
Also for scope sighting, I'd suggest a bore laser. They cost like $30 and you don't have to waste the ammo, you need to fine tune it a bit with a round or two but it works great for quick and accurate sighting
Using a fairly standard cleaning kit I picked up, nitro solvent followed by a brush and dry patches until they come out clean, then light oil if I'm storing it. Last time I left the bore dry, dad gave it a once-through with WD40 and said as of last night there was not a speck of crap to be seen so I'm wondering if it might be the oil just collecting dust. As far as I know there's nothing in there that would cause it to get so dirty that fast, but I could be wrong.
Here's some quick phone cam pictures.
e: fuck your gay forum shot tags fucked it up. nvm then pics later
