My guess is that it's the H1 engine with revamped innards. Sort of like Blam 2 and 3, except that it's not a total overhaul. Probably new renderer, same physics, same basic systems. I know nothing about coding, but that's my layman's assumption.
My point is not how is it possible, my point is how can it be called halo 1 engine when alit of code would need to be redone.
So minecraft is coming to Xbox 360, thoughts people? Also do you think this (and the portable version) is the 'new' game they have said they've been working a ton on? I think it is, dwood would be so owned if it's true.
I don't see the point of a game based almost entirely on mods and expandability coming to 360, especially when it's not even finished.
Sorry, but this remake has me more excited. :P

The netcode shouldn't even really need to be "redone", just built on. It's the same damn engine, but with the addition of HD support (GFX and apparently sound, or at least, the audio was redone). Halo PC was built with DX9, so they could easily port that to 360 since that's the version of DX it uses.
The engine still has the same physics, AI, inventory, etc engines in place as the original Halo. Core components that give the game its feel gameplay-wise are being touched minimally, if at all. If I had to guess, the main things probably getting touched are abstraction layers... besides the graphics engine, of course.
