ADVISORY TO ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING AN I.O. INC. IMPORTED POLISH "BERYL" RIFLE
I.O. Inc. misleads consumers by telling them that the rifles are wholly manufactured in Poland when only the receivers and barrels are. The rest of the guns are a mix of US-made parts for 922(r) compliance and used, worn military surplus parts. take apart a Beryl and be amazed at the bluing wear on some internal parts! These guns may look really cool and seem to itch a .223 AK scratch, but let the buyer beware. Get a SAR-3 or Arsenal .223 AK instead.

I could add a lot more to that list Ross but I would be wasting my time. Also the 880 ammo crate should be here tomorrow or Monday.

ANOTHER URGENT MESSAGE FOR POTENTIAL AK BUYERS
Do NOT buy the Zastava M70 PAP high-capacity AK-47 rifles imported by Century Arms. Yugo AKs naturally have narrow trunnions, which is exacerbated by the dremeling Century does to turn the originally single-stack rifles into double-stack. This can lead to catastrophic failure. If you REALLY, REALLY want a Yugo AK, get a preban one that is all Yugoslavian parts and not Century hachetjob crap. Or, if you don't have that kind of money, get the original, all-Yugoslavian single-stack AKs, which may have a low capacity but at least they won't explode on you.
EMMZEE'S 100% LEGIT AK-47 BUYER'S GUIDE
Top tier:
Polytech Legend/Clayco AKS ($1500+)
SLR-95 ($900+)
An AK you build yourself with high quality, new-manufacture parts and a new Nodak Spud receiver (cost depends on what parts you use)
High tier:
MAK-90 ($650ish, but the prices are rising fast)
SAR-1 ($500+, sometimes you can find a really good deal for less than $500 but usually it's Gunbroker-style prices)
VEPRs converted to take regular AK mags ($700ish, they do still have sporter furniture which may turn some people off (ELITISTS!!!))
Mid tier:
Maadi/MISR ($650-$700)
DO NOT BUY tier:
All WASR variants
Zastava M70 PAP
American-made AKs not made by you (why pay more than a SAR-1 when a SAR-1 is a better gun?)
AMD-65
M-10
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
What's the deal with AMDs?
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
The AMD is one I would also like to know. Never heard anything bad about them.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
AMD-65s are Century parts guns with various wear on the internals. Also their stocks have literally the worst cheekweld of all time. If you want an AMD, building one yourself is always the better option.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
Building an AK from a kit is always the best option. But if someone is dumb and is literally throwing away a Romy for 300 I'm not going to miss that chance.
Re: Modacity shooters' thread
I've had two opportunities in the past to get a SAR-1 for $400, which is a ridiculously good deal. The first time was June 2011 when I bought my SKS, and the dude was also selling his SAR-1. I didn't think I could have afforded it at the time, when I really could have. The second time I was close to buying it from a guy out of state, but he was being REALLY sketchy, wanting me to send the money first to California, then to Las Vegas, then talking like I wasn't even buying his rifle at all, like he was selling it for someone else or something, so I backed out.
I REALLY want a good AK, but it's just too expensive. Hell, even WASRs are $500 now.
