I use max 8. I'm sure most/all h2v modelers would use a newer version if there was a better exporter though including me. <--personal opinion.
The Ghost's exporter does not always work for me.

Maya 6.0
I use Max 8 for modeling and Maya 2008 for UV Mapping.
