I made rapture in the server I play on but they reset the map before I could take pics :smith:
And unless the players have insane levels of autism, nobody dug out the ditch in the bottom left/the lave area/sand/snow areas.
Also, what's the IP of the PA server? I'd love to take a walk around that place :v:

This game has no plot, and no characters aside from the AI, who do not speak anyways. You appear in this blocky wilderness one day, and begin to carve out your home/shit you want to build, while defending yourself and your possessions from the different types of zombies that attack at night. What I remember hearing is that it had something to do with the code that did lighting for each new chunk. Basically the higher the build ceiling the slower that calculation is. It means the map goes on forever because it is generated procedurally.
Alpha used to be called (before the off-line client) infdev to differentiate it from indev (which was the original survival game mode but on limited maps like creative mode). Go check it out some times, you can choose the sort of terrain you want (hell, woodlands, desert, islands, floating islands, etc).Quote:

I mined my way out of a cave and got lost... couldn't find my cave again. Ended up running around for two days on that island trying to find the spot I mined out from... eventually gave up and mined into a wall to hide for the third night. Got bored during the night and started mining around to try to find some redstone to make a compass. Eventually just decided to make a huge tunnel from wherever I was to my home base.
42 stone pick axes later I went up to the surface, on an island near my home.
Those compasses are amazing when you're underground.

Just built this. Its my castle. The interior is still pretty empty, but I'll be working on that later. When its 100% done, I may make a vid or something. Its the largest thing I've ever built singlehandedly, as this is not in a multiplayer server.

There are six new block types (five of them have unique abilities), one new monster, a new dimension, and a couple of bug fixes. That seems awful childish. I bought the game for its as-is qualities. Any additional patches and improvements thereafter are just a welcome surprise. Frankly, I don't think I've ever bought a game on investment value, that is to say, based on the notion that I deserve continued updates.

Played the classic version last night. Joined a random server and was fucking around. Dug into the ground and fell into a massive chamber. Ran around lost for 15 minutes and I saw a guy out in the fog. He stopped moving, so I used the opportunity to build a big box around him. turns out it was Freelancer (low what are the chances). We spent the next few hours building a massive tower. I went back to the server today to check. As I was making some changes some dude came and fucked up the giant gold dome I made. :(

God, I spent ten minutes trying to get out of a cavern I'd been working in. Be sure to organize yourself down there. From now on I'm putting up signs and routes so I know where I am.
Easy way I never get lost in caves: Torches go on left walls only going down, so torches are on the right going up
I've just been making massive arrows out of torches pointing to an exit every now and then. I keep intending to slowly build stairs down, but I just end up running to the very bottom and exploring more :F

I spent yesterday playing some normal difficulty. Right now I'm building on a medium sized island not far from the spawn. I've got two buildings so far, a dock (facing the spawn) that seconds as a defense tower, and a mine further in the island. Stuck dirt to the north side of trees to act as sort of a compass and have a big ass arrow in the sky pointing to the mine. The mine itself, I'm working on the outside defenses for. Building a big cobblestone wall, and am planning on making it a couple stories tall.
Inside the mine I managed to hit a huge fucking cavern filled with minerals that bereaks off in like ten different directions, which travels even deeper, some of the caves are filled with lava. fucking freaks me out when I hear a bow and arrow firing at me from inside somewhere I have yet to explore.
