Energy swords are more like trophies for the Brutes, for killing a high-ranking Elite. The melee weapon of choice for higher-ranking Brutes seems to be the Gravity Hammer, which is analogous to the Elite's Plasma Sword, with an added flinging effect.Quote:

My guess is that either those brutes have shields or that they are just there for looks.
Pretty sure its not shields as neither spartans or elites needed wiring on the outside for their shields.
Maybe they're just there because they're there in the Halo 3 vidoc. :/

I really hope that the process of making brutes and putting them into the SPv2 isn't slowing the release of it. By the way, is the brute shot going to be stronger? I always wondered why the Brute Shot was so weak.....I mean it shoots explosive grenades and it takes more shots to kill than a BR does (Yes I know technically it takes 12 shots from a BR to kill but still)

Started skinning yesterday, bump map for head is still being done before i diffuse it, and the hands aren't unwrapped yet, and the feet i haven't done anything to them texture wise yet.
That is only ugly motherfucker.
Colour is temporary, so I can more easily distinguish between things.
Also, you'll notice anything mirrored has the wrong lighting direction. That's not a problem, because most game engines actually are smart with that sort of thing and flip the normals. Halo 2's brutes have mirrored arms and legs and they're fine ingame and since I've unwrapped the brute almost the same sort of layout, it should be fine.

well I've been busy with alot of stuff mainly real life so it took me a while to unwrap ALL the brutes armour plating and the actual brutes themselves. Still not finished the unwrapping though.
Wow they even look ugly. No wonder the Elites hate them. Lol I know you just started but woah momma.
I know in the end they will look gorgeous.

yeah, I haven't done much to the mouth yet. The diffuse is BASIC. It's literally a 5 minute job. The bump maps are still being worked on before I'll start a serious one. That goes for everything.
And it still looks like win...
its really the ?-quality of the voice acting and animations and not the model that keep me up all night.:(

The head of it looks kinda pale. I guess it depends if you're aiming towards a halo 2 or halo 3 brute. It should be tanner either way. I thought that those flap things sticking out of the side of the head were unwrapped fur. Guess I was wrong...
