I'm also finding it hard to press enter when I start up halo CE with our UI, it's such a nuisance! I cannot believe that you would even consider making me spend half a second to get past that menu to get to gain access to the main menu! I don't care if it's there so you can admire the bsp! Why bother? Because it lets you look at the map without dirty great text and such marring it, and it takes virtually no space, and no effort and no brainpower to put up with... just hit enter, is it really so hard?

With this UI you can check for updates via the settings menu. The big fucking difference here, is, is that the updates screen sits open for around ten seconds, then auto closes. The enter screen takes around half a goddamned second to get passed! You don't have to download this UI if you don't want it.:eyesroll:

Leave it in, I would much rather have an option, of admiring the map without all the huge text and etc in the road. It takes literally milliseconds to get rid of, at any point, and does so with a cool blur effect. Then you get to buisness when you want!
Don't like it, quit complaining, cuz I'm pretty sure despite your complaining, its going into the UI. Either, download it, or not, it's up to you.

Yes, I agree. The whole "enter" thing makes it feel more like a console game (except Halo Xbox, of course) because almost all of them start the same way: developer/designer logos, possible opening sequence(s), and then a "press start" screen. (okay, maybe some other games, like Lego Star Wars or something don't have the "press start" screen either, but...)

Idea: make it so when you get a "can't connect to server," "server is full," or "error loading a map file" errors, the OK button is tied to the multiplayer screen? Not the internet/lan lobby, just the multiplayer select screen.

Tried that out, but it stuffed the back button up. It didn't go back to the main menu. We can tell the enter/left mouse to return to the main menu when the back button is hit, but escape would do nothing (because there is no event type linked to it).

Animated textures need shaders, and the UI doesn't support them.

wtfpwnt, and I doubt anyone in the community could make an exact replica for Halo CE, show me that screenshot, from that exact angle on one in CE and I doubt it will look the exact same, they are two slightly different game engines after all.

I got another cool little idea: make a menu option, like in the Farcry main menu, called Demo Loop. When you hit it, all widgets disappear. You hit esc to return to the main menu.
I always liked hitting that option in Farcry, and just watching the flyaround. :D

I used that my chiller UI, although if I put it in this one I think people would use it as an excuse to take out the press enter menu :\

It's actaully not that bad, without the maps. It's actually not possible to do that thing with the maps in the ui. The ui will probably tell the game to display certain information for the map you have highlighted. If any maps it tries to display don't exist in your maps folder, the game could get an exception or "error: Halo couldn't load because [this map file] doesn't exist in your maps folder. Correct the problem and try loading Halo again.)

don't do it for every map. do it for some. did the origional halo do it for all? no. so this one doesn't need to eather.
however, that does not mean that you shouldn't put any custom maps on that list.
add what maps you makers want.

I think you guys are missing the point. It would take alot of fucking time to do, you need to do it in HMT or some halo PC hacking tool, so I'd have to find a converter that doesn't fuck everything up. It's not worth enough to do. Not everyone has the maps that I would put in.

We were too hopeful with the latest HEK+ release. It protected everything fine, but you can't get to any of the "enter text" menus. The final release will only have .bitmaps protected, so everything should be fine.
