I'm quite sure that you don't go blind from simply looking at a lightning bolt about 200m away, at most you'd have the bolt burned into your vision for a few moments but there's no way it'd blind you...

They could have been taking a video or taking shots within an interval of that time and yadee-yadaa boom.
Besides it could have been zoomed in (doesn't really look like it).

... I'm not even going to go into much detail on how wrong you are, despite the facts you presented, but I will say this: The picture is not only entirely possible, I've seen countless photos of lightning hitting buildings.

I watched lightening strike a man and his son on the beach and kill them both. I was about 4 cars distance away. We could smell the flesh. I wasn't blinded or toasted. Did hurt my ears though.
