what they said. no gun has the iron sight right at the end of the gun(non that i've seen). there's always a bit of the barrow extended from the iron sight(hmm..oddway of phrasing it but i think u get the idea).

BTW, the sight should work like it does in the real world. This is an important factoid.
On the actual gun, if you look closely, the sight is still mounted just behind the barrel opening.
