Go stop them from making Back to Karkand, then. Honestly, I want to see what these maps look like when they are all fucking up. And with BF3, we will see those said maps getting raped by destruction.

You know that the remade maps are going to change. Remake != port.
And the destroyed BF2 maps would look the same as destroyed BC2 maps: a relatively flat plane with some collapsed heaps of rubble. Maybe some holes in the ground.
I think it's going to be worse than that. In BC2, there was no real natural terrain deformation. BF3 is supposed to basically employ the scorched earth tactic, but with cover rather than strategic value.
BC2 does put holes in the ground, and it does make them deeper depending on the power of the charge and/or how many times that spot was exploded on. Granted, you can't take out cliffs and stuff, but I don't think you'll be able to do that in BF3 either. Causing avalanches to take out tanks would be jaw-on-floor awesome though. Hell, I'd sit still just to watch someone do it to me.
Which is what I mean about Natural environments, mostly. I'm pretty sure you can't blow holes in the jungle or desert floor in BC2. I think you can in fields, though. (e.g. Harvest Day, Heavy Metal, etc)
It works on jungle and desert too.You can put holes in the ground on any map as long as it isnt a significant piece of the landscape, I think.
Point is, most ground deformation doesn't affect gameplay at all, really. It's mainly for visual appeal. I hope in this game you can make craters in the ground. It would definitely help for makeshift cover.
I was just on a server that had a 1500 ticket. Atamaca Desert and the whole map was just holes, couldnt even drive straight.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. I play on 1000-1500 ticket Atacama servers and it's not that bad. It's the terrain itself that is very uneven in addition to the shell craters. And when you got all kinds of shit flying at you and you need to maneuver, it certainly feels like there are holes in the ground. However, on the pavement it does get very bumpy if there are a lot of holes. That would indicate baseraping on Atacama, though.
Helicopter circle-strafing galore. I admire the piloting but god damn is it annoying.
Also, you can blow holes in the jungle floor. You can't blow holes in sand because sand doesn't work like that, especially in the middle of a sand storm.
