I used to dislike it too, but now I'm a complete Whovian.
Doctor Who is a good show, but like Firefly it has more of a cult following. You'd have to be into a time-travelling humanoid alien known as the Doctor who explores the universe in a sentient time machine called the TARDIS that flies through time and space, whose exterior appears as a blue 1960s British police box to enjoy it.
