That not what i was trying to make. I was trying to make a robotic hand that pretty much has a good excuse so i can make it move around like a normal hand without needing to put in more stuff, like motors or pumps or wires and crap.

You could have done what ross said, and made the little circular things plastic. I think it looks like nice leather, but it definitely doesn't look like a glove. It looks like something that'd be strapped to the back of your hand, and that's kinda dumb. Also, this has no place in the CE gallery thread. I don't get why people post this stuff here.

No, actually he makes a fair point. It's already been said that post should be constructive, not just an obvious attempt at making fun of it. It's just like the situation we had a little while ago about offtopicness, I can't remember what mod said (I beleive it was Zeph) who pointed out the posts where people are just ranting on, and in an attempt to make it look like they're not being offtopic they put in some lame comment at the end to pretend like they really care about being on topic. Same sort of deal here, people really intending to make fun of it, and tacking on a half-assed peice of constructive critism to make it look like they're obeying the rules. C'mon guys, it's obvious the problem was with disaster and not this guy anyhow.

and if you're intending to say it's robotic, it sure had better be designed to give that impression, because you missed the mark in every part. the joints are not even correct. those buttons should've at least been vertical to insinuate joints.

Why don't you just tell him how to improve it instead of making fun of it, i know you enjoy making fun of other peoples work, but try and help them, if the works "looks ok" and stuff like that are in your vocabulary.

I'd think they're dropping hints that the only way to do it is to throw the .max file into the recycle bin, then empty it and start over. It doesn't look anything like a robotic glove; it looks like a foam cutout.

Well for the robot hand. I think you should actually model in joints and some pipes and stuff. It seems like you just took the lazy way out. And then import it into zbrush and add in the scratches or w/e you want. And I don't see how it looks like foam.
It needs to be trashed and reworked. If you want it to be biomechanical, at least make it look better.

I had a chance to use a laptop with a Quadro FX 2500m, 2 gb of ram, and a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor, from my Robotics team. Being the sneaky me I am, I installed CE on it, and ran it at 1920x1200 resolution, and took some screenshots. I was getting killer FPS. I wish I could keep the laptop. It's been a long time since I even used CE.

I've been busy, away, etc :P I currently teach and basically complete the animation team for my Robotics Team in my High School, and have to teach the newcomers how to use 3ds Max to animate and render.
I still don't have a dedicated graphics solution, but I am seriously going to spend as much time with this lappy as I can do further complete any other Halo workings I have left off.
The FOV in this map is the same as the Xbox Halo FOV (in multi.) I prefer it because it gives the game a less locked-in feel, and lets the world be seen a little more :P I have it integrated into the map without an FOV tool.
I also dropped Halo 2 Vista. I can't edit on it freely. I tried, but, it's just a pain to startup Sapien and watch 50x errors that are supposed to be there appear and slow down the startup, then wait for compiling, then wait for starting up, then wait for testing, etc, over and over again. Everything feels slower and less productive.

Looks good. But remember what I talked to you about making it flow smoothly? It needs to be worn down a bit more, but smoothing MAY take care of it. If not, you might need to make more polygons for it.
Also, I spot 1 messed-up polygon, it's on the top right rock, just where it meets the left rock. It might just be the angle, but I don't know.
Oh, just caught one more. Near the bottom of the picture, just under where the bottom right rock meets the ground, that edge right there doesn't flow into the ones next to it.

The cliff shape depends on where you are.
Ive seen a lot of ridiculously shaped mini cliffs, there really arent many where I live, so the ones I did see were like, 2M high.

also what are the 2 things on the sides of the canyon at redbase? i can imagine vehicles spawning under the right quater pipe thing, but I think if the left doesn't really serve a purpose, it would be better placed outside of the base tol make another area more interesting and save poly's.
Yeah the wall will be walkable-on. The left structure will be a warthog spawn, and the one on the right is just random. I added it for balance. It makes the place look complete.
well if it the whole level was just a straight canyon, you could just put a thing like on the left on the right of the enemy base and leave that thing out all together.
or if the level wasn't straight and bent around, then it would be fine IMO. it just looks clutterd to my eye.

well then remove the thing on the right, bend it around so that the thing on the right is on the outside of the U (the bottom edge) and then place structure that was on the right in the middle on the top side of the U and it will look nice and ballanced (and give a nice looking peice in the middle to extend how far you have to walk to see around it) :)
that's what I would do anyway.
Good idea about swapping the two structures around. The 'nice looking piece in the middle' is actually just gonna be a big butte sorta thing. it mught form a huge arch though...arg hard to explain, but theres gonna be something that divides the middle section of the level into two separate ways.

Please dont comment on the crapness of the landscape. I KNOW it needs work. this is just to give a feel for how the level's layout is. To the left (and out of sight) is blue base, inside an enormous cave. I am halfway through one of the base structures there (pic soon).
Keep in mind the buildings are fairly large, this map is actually around blood gulch size, maybe bigger. I want it to have good ground and vehicle combat. If you want i'll post a layout pic but i cant be screwed at the mo.

It's decent, but it looks almost tacked on, like you modeled a bunch of structures separately and then glued them onto a random canyon. I think part of it is that they're at odd angles to each other.
What style is it supposed to be, forerunner? Because if it is you're close but not quite there.

Handle looks horrible, i spy a lot of smoothing errors, and the bottom half of the gun needs more detail
