Interesting video, getting hyped up for my rifle.
Ammo came:

7.62x54R, 8x57mm, 7x57mm, .30-06
E: Rifle came, soaked in cosmoline of course. Anyone have expertise on cosmoline removal? I'm planning on doing it Friday.
WD-40! Have used it successfully in the past.
Just to piss off Ross (if he ever comes back)

U mad, bro?
I tried the boiling water thing, it was a mess and overall a pain in the ass. Biggest thing was the water didn't stay hot enough, long enough, for me to clean everything off. Went into the garage, got some WD-40, sprayed it on and it whipped clean off. The thicker globs just dripped off. Got the idea from several other gun boards. Technically WD-40 is also a rust preventative but wouldn't hurt to give the whole rifle a good cleaning after you get the cosmoline off and coat it in a light treatment of oil.
What's the theory as far as the wood goes? I've heard all kinds of things, and decided to use mineral spirits after all things were considered.
Took the cosmoline off, then played hooky from studying to drive up to the mountains and fire it.
Used WD-40 (thanks Penguin!) on all the exterior metals, and used carburetor cleaner to remove the cosmoline from the bore. Just rubbed some mineral spirits along the wood to try and get it off that, which worked but not to the dramatic effect I was hoping. Dipped all the small bits in a boiling pot of water as well and that got some more out,
Thing shot very very straight at about 50 yards. If I'd been using good technique, I could have probably shot two inches, but I wasn't caring about grouping and was just shooting an 8x18 inch box. Hit every time as long as I did my part. Had some cosmoline bleeding out of the wood and the bolt after a while, which I wiped off carefully and continued usage. Only problem was a bit of sticky bolt (wouldn't close at times), and a few failures to cock (happened twice in twenty rounds).
Only got to shoot twenty rounds because I accidentally grabbed my GI can of shot shells instead of the one I am storing my 7.62R ammo in, but 20 was enough. Cleaned the bore after shooting and put it in a case. Great gun, and I can't wait to shoot it some more.
I've had mine for almost 6 years, and was scrubbed clean when I got it. On super hot days after a handful of rounds my stock starts to ooze too. Just small drops but it happens.

Seems like a decent buy. Sounds better than most Century AK's and more affordable than an Arsenal one
It's been so long since I posted what my arsenal ACTUALLY consists of (since like Ross said, my weapons go in and out like a revolving door..since I'm never satisfied but lately I've been building up).
Also gimmie some 8mm TVTyrant for my bring back Kar98k, I'm always looking. And post pics of yee rifle bro, pics are always nice.
My apologies for the terrible picture quality

Teekup, you may commence shedding tears.
I never realized how handsome he is
:allears:
Visiting parents for the holidays (where most of my rifles still remain :( ) and decided to take some shitty iphone photos of my Mosin and Garand which I can't remember if I ever shared either here. Both are from '43 but some tard tried to refinish the Garand stock and never finished. But at least it knocked some money off the price.
nice awp. I prefer the lightning strike skin myself
Took the plunge. I joined the AR-15 group..and I really love this thing. OH and this is my first rifle I ever bought new. S&W M&P 15 Sport.

Bought yourself a Tavor now?
What's all in your collection these days FreeLancer?
IWI Tavor .223
Rob Arms XCR-M .308
Browning BAR LongTrac Stalker .30-06
Benelli Super Black Eagle 12ga
Remington 788 .308
I think I'm going to sell the Rob Arms XCR-M for a Remington 700 XCR Long Range Tactical in .308. Then I'll probably bed the stock. I want a nice, modern long range .308 to play with. The 788 we have is very old (second hand, went out of production in 1980), still accurate, but it's a 18 1/2in barrel. Not the greatest for reaching out there.
XCR-M .308 is gone now. Traded for a Remington 700 5R MilSpec:
Got a couple more friends for the Tavor though:
Mossberg 930 Autoloading 12ga (3" chamber)
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm (got the range kit, belt holster, kydex dual mag open-topped belt pouch, 4 mags, Uplula) and also have a Safariland 7TS ALS drop-leg for it now.
I'm not a terribly huge fan of "tactical" bolt actions. At least that one is pretty tasteful compared to most that are out there.
I'm a fan, because typically the heavier profile barrel reduces vibrations and felt recoil, and the stocks are a lot lighter weight than wood (being fiberglass or some sort of combined polymer). The threaded barrels are great for compensators like this too. This thing has almost no felt recoil, it's like shooting a .223 / 5.56.
But yeah, this is a fairly "classic" kind of tactical bolt action. Without a fancy modern age stock that weighs 20 lbs. I have some videos of me shooting all this stuff, only one ready to show is this though:

120fps is hardly slow motion :realsmug:
also nice awp
please buy me faster high speed camera
Bump. Also a real post. I bought a gun back in February and have spent the last six months or so putting about a thousand rounds through it practicing and breaking it in.
It's a Ruger 9E, the budget version of their SR9. The trigger is smooth and the ergonomics are nearly perfect for my thin twink fingers. It's a bit heavier than the S&W SD9VE I was also looking at back when buying, but after running both on my first range day, I definitely prefer the Ruger. For the $100 I saved, I picked up a pelican case to transport it in, the extra two mags, and mag loader. I'm planning to eventually CC with it given how thin it is for a full size, I'm just looking for a good holster for daily carry.
I recently picked up a CZ75. Heavy, but pretty nice.
